Oxygen and halon, will still add white stripes to the bottles. Plan to place them in front of the instrument panel, will hardly be visible but still a nice addition

Wings attached, had to cut of the guides on both wings to get a good enough fit. The same issue is there with the tail-part… Some putty needed on the engine seams and the fuselage-wing seam.

Album image #24
Small fix needed on the top of the fuselage

Some filling still needed

More to fill

Album image #29
Wing joints need a bit more work :/

Album image #30
Primed with Tamiya XF-63 German Gray, dark enough for marbeling and I like the color

Album image #31
Marbelling done with flat white (XF-1) and buff (XF-57). My first try ever 🙂

Album image #32
Cut out slots for the navigation lights, will do the lights of the transparent sprue.

Album image #33
Antenna added on top of fuselage, the plan is to drag the wires from both rudders

Painted with Tamiya XF-84 Dark Iron

5 thin layers done. I think this is enough, the marbeling is still visible but not too much.

Gloss varnish and decals applied. Note to myself, Eduard decals do not need Microsol! Ended up screwing one decal and had to go to V2 instead of V8 as planned for the decals.

Album image #52
Next up a light layer of gloss varnish on the decals before some light weathering.

Thanks Christoph! Stillhave to figure out some graphics for the boxes on the walls, maybe cut up the dashboard decal that came with the set?

Quite a lot of sanding to be done on the fuselage-wings joints… The starting point gave a gap of 1,5mm. The engines seem to fit snuggly to the wings, as the tail to the fuselage.

Will also have to rescribe the panel lines, out-of-the-box they are quite shallow. Also pondering about adding rivets to the panel seams 🤔

Ended up cutting of the guides on both wings to get a snug enough fit, still needs some putty for the seam to be perfect.

The same issue is actually present on the tail, most probably I'll cut of the guide also there to get a proper fit. The engines locked nicely into place, just need to tidy the seams and sand them good.

Pre-primed with gray Vallejo surface primer to expose all imperfections, the situation was better then expected. Some work to be done on some joints, but nothing worse to tackle.

Some fixing to be done before dark priming and marbeling.

Painting completed with 5 layers, marbeling still visible lightly. About what I was hoping for. Quite satisfied for a first try on this approach

Good job so far. I liked this kit very much despite the problem with wings fit...

The wings were a pain in the butt to get in the right position. The decals are also a bit on the thin side for a guy who is used to Tamiya thick decals 😂

Good idea for how to make the wing-lights (tip of the wing) are wellcome. Tested with pva-glue, didn't work. The result was not clear enough and stuck badly to the model.

Next tyr will be using parts of the clear sprue.
