Stuka T6+AK of St.G 2 Immelmann as used in the Balkan campaign. I particularly like the colour scheme of this St.G, as well as the Scottie dog insignia.
Decals are from Eagle Cals. They were printed by Cartograf and are excellent quality. The originals were curled up and stuck to the cover paper. I only messed up one small stencil on the underside which folded over on itself and was unrecoverable. They mostly settled down nicely, but the crosses on the underside were very reluctant to stick around the numerous rivets, even with numerous applications of Micro Sol. As the paint was a bit patchy I didn't push it too much.
I'm not sure of the crew's names, so this is Hptm. Hans Gruber in the pilot's seat. I don't know where Revell got the moulds for these guys, but they are very different from the pilots in the Spitfire and Hurricane of the same series of kits. They are much skinnier and don't have much detail.
Canopy opens and closes. I masked the canopy with Bare Metal Foil. This works really well as it is so thin and cutting around the edges is easy, although some of the frames were not particularly well defined. I painted it first with German grey, then Schwarzgrun. Removing the foil after painting is not as easy as removing masking tape. It tends to tear and flakes of paint get stuck to the clear parts. The aerial wire is Trumpeter 0.2 mm ship rigging wire.
Another kit from my father's stash that has been in closet since the mid 1970's. The plastic was not brittle like it's sister kit the Spitfire. It did react a little bit to acrylic lacquer paints, but not as bad as the Spitfire. Millions of rivets were a concern, but I was able to hide the seams without losing too many. Fit was pretty good on most parts. Not much filling required to smooth out the wing to fuselage joins. A little bit needed on the fuselage join behind the cockpit. The majority of the paint was SMS Premium Lacquer. Hellblau RLM65 on the underside, Dunkelgrun RLM71 and Schwarzgrun RLM70 on top, with Gelb RLM04 on the nose and tail. German grey RAL7021 in the cockpit.
