Dry fitting of the front and rear halves of the bodywork, and the running gear loose fitted to the chassis. I see that I need to repair the top of the radiator grill....
The motorcycle is dry fitted for the moment, to allow better access for painting. Very fine spoked wheels let plenty of light through! The saddle will be rubbed down first, though.
The kit offers 2 options for the front grill, open or closed. The open version was solid plastic behind the louvres, so I scraped carefully from the rear, until light came through. Definitely looks better.
Today's progress 🙂
I'm holding back from further assembly, until priming and initial detail painting done.
The tracks have one-sided wheels moulded in one, so the tracks have an awful mould seam dead centre 🙁 Sanding has removed it from the pads but it still shows up between.
Cab and rear body will be mounted once the chassis has been painted.Painting of the inside of the cab is going to be tricky...
Primer applied, so detail painting can proceed, before assembly.
Primer applied, top coat next.
Dry fit, before more paint, small parts, etc...
Painting the dials before assembly would have been a better idea..
Main parts on the chassis have been painted, so assembly can move forward.
Coming together, together 😉
Assembly progresses after initial painting.
It's begging for a dispatch rider. Can anyone recommend one?
Further painting of the motorcycle, and some gloss too. Decals added to the amphibious jeep.
Two of the three that this kit comprises. A lot of fun for a tenner! 🙂
A few paint details re-visited....
