F4F-3 Wildcat
Cockpit area
To get the wings to fit I shaved a lot off
My finished cockpit before putting the glass on.

Nice job! How easy do you think it would be to hack out the cockpit in order to replace with aftermarket? I think the kit also lacks the lower windows where the pilot could monitor the landing gear - true?

I don't particularly like HB for the lack of true modelling chalenges, but it's good for a quick build... You did a nice job here 🙂

Hi Bill - It looked like the cockpit was not molded in - a piece was inserted in there. I think you might be able to get it out. There is no detail int he cockpit at all except a chair and stick. I painted on the instrument panel and added seat belts. The kit has lower windows but they go into a sealed area and not into the cockpit. I painted the area black to hide that fact. I will update the album with an image of the cockpit area so you can see.

Built OOB but had to modify the wings to the F4F-3 standard. The wings provided in the kit have 6 guns. Also they have the panel lines for folding wings even though this model did not have them. I chose not to fill the lines. I used Starfighter decals and they worked great, although the wing stripes would not line up. I painted in the missing areas both on the front and back of the wings wings. Next time I will use the Hasagawa kit.
