My first German WWII ship...
![Album image #2 Album image #2](/albums/img/5/9/3/229593-12750-74-720.jpg)
...and its typical camouflage scheme.

Replacement barrel for 15 cm make actually little difference...
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/5/9/5/229595-12750-37-720.jpg)
...but the smaller the guns get (twin 3,7 AA)...
![Album image #5 Album image #5](/albums/img/5/9/6/229596-12750-89-pristine.jpg)
...or even smaller (2 cm) the difference becomes quite noticeable.
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/3/1/2/232312-12750-24-720.jpg)
in some instances the Trumpeter kit feels a bit over-engineered

the radar is from an add-on

well, I guess I shouldn't have used those anchor chain "Just because they were there" (in my spare bin)

dry fitting of components (30 Jan)...
![Album image #10 Album image #10](/albums/img/8/7/5/233875-12750-23-720.jpg)
...with some details missing...
![Album image #11 Album image #11](/albums/img/8/7/6/233876-12750-27-720.jpg)
...as well as side camouflage...
![Album image #12 Album image #12](/albums/img/8/1/1/235811-12750-82-720.jpg)
Almost finished, including my still rather pathetic attempt at rigging...
![Album image #13 Album image #13](/albums/img/8/1/2/235812-12750-41-720.jpg)
...also small photo-etch I tend to bend...
![Album image #14 Album image #14](/albums/img/8/1/3/235813-12750-59-720.jpg)
...the wire is from Uschi van der Rosten and pretty neat...
![Album image #15 Album image #15](/albums/img/8/1/4/235814-12750-27-720.jpg)
...I still have some guys to add..
![Album image #16 Album image #16](/albums/img/8/1/5/235815-12750-63-720.jpg)
...and all the railings (uff)

First ship finished...
![Album image #18 Album image #18](/albums/img/3/4/2/237342-12750-50-720.jpg)
...the railings are OKish (the decal horrible)...
![Album image #19 Album image #19](/albums/img/3/4/3/237343-12750-35-720.jpg)
...now two more (sub & oil barge)...
![Album image #20 Album image #20](/albums/img/4/4/9/237449-12750-89-720.jpg)
And here the second ship...
![Album image #21 Album image #21](/albums/img/4/5/0/237450-12750-75-720.jpg)
...a brisk build over a weekend...
![Album image #22 Album image #22](/albums/img/4/5/1/237451-12750-48-720.jpg)
...still my photo-etch work can be improved...
![Album image #23 Album image #23](/albums/img/4/5/2/237452-12750-29-720.jpg)
...but I am quite happy with the (1:350) VII C...
![Album image #24 Album image #24](/albums/img/0/0/2/239002-12750-51-720.jpg)
...the VII C is complete...
![Album image #25 Album image #25](/albums/img/0/0/3/239003-12750-70-720.jpg)
...albeit I might have overdone the weathering...
![Album image #26 Album image #26](/albums/img/7/5/0/240750-12750-44-720.jpg)
...and the 3rd ship of the planned scene...
![Album image #27 Album image #27](/albums/img/7/5/1/240751-12750-49-720.jpg)
...the Norwegian oil barge "Munkholm"...
![Album image #28 Album image #28](/albums/img/7/5/2/240752-12750-83-720.jpg)
...an US Oil Barge played the part as it was the only ship I could get...
![Album image #29 Album image #29](/albums/img/7/5/3/240753-12750-97-720.jpg)
...rigging (uff) still missing...
![Album image #30 Album image #30](/albums/img/0/2/6/241026-12750-82-720.jpg)
...all three ships safely stored (for now)...
![Album image #31 Album image #31](/albums/img/0/2/7/241027-12750-71-720.jpg)
...now I can start the groundwork (base)...

one step further to finish the base

Langsam pinselt das Eichhörnchen (Stein um Stein)
![Album image #38 Album image #38](/albums/img/5/5/9/246559-12750-38-720.jpg)
Almost complete. The base is still latest bed for colors as it will be covered by foam.

close-up after weathering...
![Album image #40 Album image #40](/albums/img/1/2/9/247129-12750-53-720.jpg)
...I am not sure that I will keep the current "wet" look...

This is the first layer of water, before painting (obviously)
![Album image #42 Album image #42](/albums/img/2/6/8/247268-12750-91-720.jpg)
...the Norwegian sea is blue in the summer...
![Album image #43 Album image #43](/albums/img/2/6/9/247269-12750-56-720.jpg)
...but maybe not THAT blue...
![Album image #44 Album image #44](/albums/img/2/7/0/247270-12750-46-720.jpg)
...and I might have overdone the foam...
![Album image #45 Album image #45](/albums/img/2/7/1/247271-12750-93-720.jpg)
...but overall I am 75% satisfied out to here...
![Album image #46 Album image #46](/albums/img/3/4/5/247345-12750-26-720.jpg)
...I filled the gaps with more acrylic gel...
![Album image #47 Album image #47](/albums/img/3/4/6/247346-12750-85-720.jpg)
...sometimes quite a lot of actually...
![Album image #48 Album image #48](/albums/img/3/4/7/247347-12750-99-720.jpg)
...so I hope that tomorrow after drying everything will be nicely opaque...
![Album image #49 Album image #49](/albums/img/5/9/5/247595-12750-64-720.jpg)
...the (toiletpaper-made) explosion is not entirely convincing...
![Album image #50 Album image #50](/albums/img/5/9/6/247596-12750-73-720.jpg)
...and I find myself adding more and more foam to the waves etc...
![Album image #51 Album image #51](/albums/img/5/9/7/247597-12750-35-720.jpg)
...so that I have to switch to B/W to get a better looking shot.

The Niko-made WR 360 and railcars are really great...

...weekend update...
![Album image #57 Album image #57](/albums/img/3/2/0/248320-12750-91-720.jpg)
...still cars and people are missing...
![Album image #58 Album image #58](/albums/img/0/9/8/252098-12750-83-720.jpg)
The 1:350 North Star Models figures are really neat...
![Album image #59 Album image #59](/albums/img/0/9/9/252099-12750-25-720.jpg)
...albeit in close-up my sub-optimal water surface modeling skills become much more obvious,
![Album image #60 Album image #60](/albums/img/5/6/1/254561-12750-21-720.jpg)
Basically finished...
![Album image #61 Album image #61](/albums/img/5/6/2/254562-12750-24-720.jpg)
...some crates and barrels added...
![Album image #62 Album image #62](/albums/img/5/6/3/254563-12750-97-720.jpg)
...just the unlucky crew of U-622 to be added.

That looks like a very promising project. Well I'll take a seat🙂
You changed the port camouflage scheme and not follow the instructions(?) – what source do you use?

Actually this is pure imagination 🙂 I did not want to look it like Z-25 and I had little info about Z-23 before (one source cited it be completely gray initially before changing to the standard camo). Also the armament will be somewhat lacking as most likely there were many more 2 cm AA guns. In addition, while being anchored in Trondheim, either before or after the attack, Z-23 was - according to one source - the first destroyer to have been equipped with a dual 15 cm turret... Well, so much for accuracy in my model 🙂

Yeah, thats a hell of a nice dio! Is the HobbyBoss kit nice to build?

Thanks! I liked the kit, it has a low parts count and photo etch parts that even my clumsy hands could fold ????. I am building Revell's 1/72 kit also (which is 5 times the scale so 25 times the volume) but the detail on the 1/350 kit is also ok...
