Steampunk Car
The final result
Initial surgery (as the driving direction had to be rotated by 180°)
The two halves of the Talbot
What's also in the box
Some more stuff that might come in handy
Gears, Steampunk needs gears
Dry fit - yeah, Guv'nor, we can drive backwards
The turbine idea got scrapped later 🙁
marriage of steam engine and car
The Talbot cockpit with some minor surgery
The original wheels from the Heller car are actually quite nice
Steering wheel and controls
The steam engine itself
The firewall
Hope nothing goes wrong on
some more bits to be added later
Looks OK
Looks OKish
Awkward dry fit
The headlights (I like them a lot)
Some random control panel
Main "belt"
Fiddly and skewed (still)
Some more random stuff added
The mechanism was supposed to be "workable"...
...but in order to get a halfway decent fit...
...I had to glue everything into place...
Final result I
Final result II
Final result III
Same as before but some filter added

Every proper diorama should have a phone booth
These decals are pretty good
Somebody want to weld something
If you'd think this' looking creepy, I'd concur
The pilot was supposed to be an (albeit cheap) 1:24 figure but looks like a child in comparison. My self-made goggles are, erm, also slight out of proportion :-/
The close-up of my 1:24 figures are not really flattering for my painting skills.
Brigitte LaFayette looks good, thoug, which is mainly due to the fantastic molding of this Scale75 figure.
Dress rehearsal (the infamous Professor Catmeister has everything under control from his elevated vantage point on the garden table)
Some of this stuff will be used, some not 🙁
The infamous Professor Catmeister sports a stylish vest and hat as well as goggles and whiskers (from rigging wire)
A little bit of progress (not much - due to lack of time), the base...
...uses some elements from the Doozy Model Works Sets
This 3D printed diorama accessories are quite OK
Final layout (bird's eye)
Prelim arrangement (I am always guilty of the sin of putting-too-much-stuff-into-a-too-small-space)
Main focus
Welder girl
Why the gun(s)?
Hello gorgeous!
Lighting test
Lighting test 2
Steampunk needs gears (these are actually from thingiverse.com and are printed nicely even on my entry level Dremel 3D printer): thingiverse.com/thing:623706/#files and thingiverse.com/thing:684376/#files
Finished (except for the temp backdrop - of course - there will be no Gary Larson cows driving a tractor later!)
Some fun with effects within Photos
The fuel is surprisingly cheap at Claudi's Emporium...
If you charge more than ten bucks, girl, I'll shoot you!
Tough
Jolly
?!

Very odd! But I like it a lot. The blue on the body is a beautiful colour.

@MRMLA: You ask me what kind of power? It is STEAM power! (I wonder if anyone got my weird "Remember The Titans" movie reference...)

"Doctor Moosemeister, is your car fast?"
"It is too fast!"
"How fast it is?"
"It is TOO FAST!"
(Search for 'Remember the Titans' in YouTube and you know what I mean 🙂)

Fantastic. I bet the ears get hot while driving with those two boilers either side.

Thanks everyone!
There is always stuff to improve but I called it complete today. The kit-bashing of the Talbot with the steam engine was easily the most fun I had in modeling!
Up to the next project (whatever that will be)...
