Looking south from the doorway. I cut up my large worktable, and combined it with my drawing table and taboret to create a U-shaped island worktable. I added a drawer to the drawing table.

I rebuilt my homemade spray booth as part of the upgrade. I cut the depth by about 2 1/2", added a drawer and LED light bar, and repositioned it in the window bay, so it can exhaust directly out the window.

I haven't yet mounted my ancient lathe to this workbench. I still have to decide what to do with the workbench, the toolbar, and the parts cabinets on the shelf above it. The lathe is old and worn, and not much good for precision model work, and I rarely use it, so I'm considering moving it out of my workroom.

East wall. The closet holds mostly stuff unrelated to model building. The metal cabinet contains art supplies, electronics stuff, and other odds and ends. The plastic boxes on top contain leftover kit parts, styrene, brass, and aluminum scratch building materials, and found objects that might be useful in scratch building.

Update: I've been learning some electronics with an eye towards lighting, and possibly animating, some of my future builds, so I moved my lathe out of my workroom, and set up that workbench as an electronics workbench.

Thanks for looking and commenting, guys. 🙂 The large window is nice, but I wish the room had 2 fewer doors! Spanjaard, the lathe is, unfortunately, over 50 years old, and was used quite hard during its first 15 years. It was given to me nearly 40 years ago, and I did my best to refurbish it, but the ways are worn near the chuck, so it's impossible to set the feed gibs for a good fit for the length of the ways, and it tends to chatter when turning metal. I've mostly used the lathe on wood and plastic, and it's difficult to turn anything much smaller than 1cm in diameter with it. Good eye, spotting Escher on my door!

My workroom after a major redo (sorry, I didn't take any "before" photos). My workroom is about 13 1/2 feet square, so decently sized, but each of the 4 walls has a door or window in it, so it's difficult to utilize the space efficiently. For years, I had a 6' x 3' standing height worktable in the center of the room, but since I started building models again, I just couldn't find an arrangement that provided me with the work, storage, and display space I wanted. I finally realized that I would have to rebuild most of my work tables, and reorganize my storage to get what I wanted. So far, I'm pleased with the results, and not only have adequate work and storage space, but have about doubled my display space for finished models.
