Matilda Mk.IV 49 Royal Tank Reg., 35 Army Tank Brig. "Filibuster"
This sure is a lot different than the older kits I usually build. A lot sharper molding and a million more parts. I now more fully understand the benefits of the Christie suspension.

Tracks on as well as a few of the several thousand detail parts on the hull and turret
Appears to be ready for weathering
There’s a whole genre of tank exhaust weathering videos on YouTube. I decided not to watch any of them. This is Tamiya grey primer + artists pastels shovelled on and sprayed with dullcote, then more pastels sprinkled on the dullcote.
Adding some dirt from the garden to the mud chutes, fixing with a mix of diluted white glue and detergent.
Scribbled on tracks with a pencil to make them look “metal”
Working on hatches and figures
The driver looks pretty worried about something
Driver and loader complete

While I'm unable to use my spray booth, I decided to build a tank, lots of little parts to glue together. Research material: mikesresearch.com/20..ation-crusader-1941/

Hi Marder, it's a sweet kit. The only issue I've had so far is getting the side skirts on perfectly. I had issues because I decided to paint the base coat on them separately from the rest of the tank, so I could spray the suspension without them in the way.

Pretty much done. I will take some better pictures of it when I get a chance. This was a great kit and fun to build. A friend of mine and I each built a uk tank, he did a crusader. Next we are both going to build biplanes.

Hi Rui, I found some pictures of Matilda II tanks used for training in the UK alongside Vickers Medium Mk II tanks. So when I build my Vickers medium, I will build a base and put both of them on it.

Hi Olivier, yes, in that photo the Matilda has no camo pattern. In the photos in this album there are some Matildas with the pattern. I think it depends on the year. I am using modeller's license here a bit, I will likely paint the Vickers Medium to be bronze green overall, but it just seems boring if both tanks are just green. Also I think the external fuel tank I added to the Matilda was not much used in the UK for training tanks, at least I haven't come across any pictures of it, outside of Tamiya's instructions. The unit the Matilda was from was for night training, and also used M3 CDLs so that would be another fun possibility for a diorama.
