Two KDC-10s
Some years ago, I built a model of the KDC-10. Since there was no model in 1/72, except for a vacuform model, I was happy with the Hasegawa 1/200. After I finished the first model, I bought a second kit.
When the KDC-10 got a new paintscheme, I wanted to build this model. But there were no decals for that version. Then I met Rene Frans van Eijk on Facebook and he offered to make the decals for me.
I measured the aircraft so Rene-Frans would be able to make the correct decals.
I got a test print and it looked alright.
Starting to build it.
A coat of primer applied. I first painted the upperwing with light grey and wanted to mask it of for the aluminium and dark grey. But it was very difficult to see the panel lines.
Therefore I decided to enlarge the manual so I could use it to make a mask. I put a large piece of making tape on my desk and put the paper on top of it. Cutting along the lines of the manual provided me with the perfect mask!
When I received the final version, Rene-Frans had added two decals for the tail, but not the decals for the doors, I decided to make these decals myself. It was the first time and when I wanted to put them on the plane, I found out that I printed them on white paper. But a reprint, solved this problem,
The final result
The tail with the Jubilee logo
Two of a kind, but slightly different.
