US Civil War Figures
Lots of flexibility for realistic horses colours.
The Indian's horse, so far.
Sargeant in progress.
First attempt at his bearded face.
Indian tracker in progress too.
And his weather-beaten face.... Well, that's what I hope to achieve.
Progress so far. Second horse to be started today, plus equipment to be painted
The sargeant's horse.
Bits and bobs started.
Some parts aren't called up on the numbered diagram, so I'm going to have to figure out what they are, and where they are intended to go...
Plenty of details to work with.
Today's progress. A little more filler required, so almost ready for colours.
Building up the colours. Unfortunately I don't have a dark blue. Let's see how this develops...
Trying to emulate buckskin. More shading to follow.
Well battered hat.
Worn leather.
'e's 'armless enough, poor lad.....
Horses and their harness painted.
Pin-striped blanket! Yes, tail to be re-fixed...
Some of the filler needed to be rubbed down better, so will re-visit when the paint is really dry.
Ready for saddle, rider and all his bits and bobs.
They're coming along.....
Still to add plenty to the mounted soldier and his horse.
There is a choice of two right arms, but neither can be added until more small parts added.. The white stripe is as a base coat before adding yellow.
Some touch ups required, I see....
Coming together...Still to paint the ammunition belt.
I need to re-visit the skin tones later, now that it is more apparent where light and shade should be emphasised.

Welcome, all, and many thanks for your 'likes'. First stab at painting today, so we'll see how it looks tomorrow. I've previously mixed blue and scarlet enamels to create leather browns, but don't have acrylic equivalents just now. Making a chestnut colour for one horse may have to wait.

Many thanks for your 'like' too, Ben. This is my third set with horses. I need to complete the earlier ones too.... Just how to make the reins is going to be interesting....
