Got a quick start on my first Aoshima kit. I'm liking it so far. This will be Takumi's Trueno in original panda paint scheme. I plan to do the initial d version with the factory headlights and hood rather than the carbon fiber from project d.

Interior is basically complete. Some touch up painting to go on the seats and dash but that's the general look. Also have one more touch to add to the interior which is necessary on this car. Waiting on weather to get the body painted. Soon

How's the airbrushing working out, mate? I'm guessing that you guys are still having that crazy weather?

Hey Bozzer. I'm having fun with the airbrush. Always learning. It's a lot different. Gives you so many more options though. The weather was great for about a week. It was almost spring. Then this weekend we got at least our 3rd round of winter so far this year. Brutal cold and snow again. 🤦🏻♂️

You keep tickling that airbrush brother. You only learn with practice! They definitely give you more options, and if you can't find a colour, you can simply mix your own? Piece of advice on that though. Always mix a little too much, and write down your formula. You'll thank me for that advice, when the time comes 😉

I have been keeping notes. I purposely put a notebook out next to my airbrush and I have different things with graduated markings so I can hopefully duplicate things that I do. Lol. I did that because I am well aware of my inability to actually remember anything at all

Lol, the notebook became another tool, in my arsenal for modelling. I'm sure that it'll look like jibberish to some, or an enigmatic code, to others, but it makes sense to me 😉

No doubt my notes look like the ramblings of an insane person. As long as you can understand it that's all that matters 😂

I have installed our mighty twin cam powerplant, underneath is done and she's up on the wheels. Some work left in the engine bay and then we'll once again be in a holding pattern as I wait on some decent weather for paint.

I'm off working away, for a few days. Rather than watch TV at night, I'm thinking about taking a kit? Can't paint it, but I can definitely build. Kinda similar to you mate? It'll end up as a side project, for the summer/fall. That engine is looking sweet bro! Hopefully, the weather will break for you. 100%

50 tomorrow, my friend. And warmer the day after that. I can get the heaters going and get the work area up to 75 or so when it's at least 50. So hopefully for paint in the next few days. That'll do for me. Soon I will also be going out of town for work. I plan to do the same thing. I'll bring a kit, my cement, maybe some engine and metal colors in a toolbox for things I can easily brush paint. Piddle away while I'm stuck away from home. It's a driving work trip so just enough stuff I can easily pack it away and go on to my next location.

Just a pair of nippers, sandpaper and some glue. Get the boring stuff done while on the road 👍🏻

Jv, welcome! This one I'm building straight out of the show. Or at least mostly.
Martin, good idea. Keep it simple and kill some time.
Rod, having just refreshed myself on the show, I can tell you Takumi blows up the factory 16 valve racing an Evo III. Bunta sources the 20 valve presumably from his friend in the racing industry. These upgrades extend beyond just the engine eventually but initially the car is the same. I've just added the racing seat and aftermarket tach for the high revving 20 balance. 😀. I'm Leaving the hood and headlights white instead of the later project d carbon fiber.

The cartoon car is all done! What a blast this kit was. I really enjoyed it.

I think you can. Especially if it's also an Aoshima. This was my first from that brand and it was really excellent.

If Aoshima are as good as Hasagawa, then I'll have to get myself one. I made a Hasagawa 1/24 jeep, and I was very impressed with the plastic and the instructions. It's only small, compared to a car, but the details are very good.

I did pick up, a later version of this, and the plastic looks very good. I only wanted the trailer, because it looks cool, however the instructions are pretty detailed.

Well my sample size is small Bozzer, but if most of their kits are as nice as this one then I'd recommend them to anyone. That rig you picked up there is really cool! That trailer is awesome!!

Thanks mate. I thought it looked original, so I bought it. I'll have to get a picture and update the SM database 🙂

Rod -
Some of the Aoshima kits are very simple, with chassis that could be motorised. They don't include the motor, gears, battery contacts anymore.
Others are amazingly complex, their Lamborghini kits are super detailed and fit really well.

Really does look cool Bozzer.
Rod, thanks for the info. I looked through my stash. I have another initial D kit which seems to be similar in style to this one. Then I have a 79 RX-7 Daytona race car which, I believe is the remnants of a motorized kit. Exactly what you're describing. It'll still build into a cool curbside but there is sure not much to it.
