AMT Havoc Marauder

Album image #1
Time for the next kit. This time it's AMT's Havoc Marauder from The Bad Batch.

Super quick construction, all went together in just over half an hour. There aren't many parts and while it's marketed as a snap fit kit I did use Tamiya Extra Thin in places, mainly to hide/fill any gaps but there weren't that many. Mainly around the rear gun emplacement (Omega's bedroom).

Album image #5
Masked the cockpit windows so it's ready for primer.

Album image #6
Primed the lot using Mig One Shot Black.

Album image #7
Even the stand got a coat.

Album image #8
Primer had overnight to cure so time for masking. Masked the cockpit parts that would normally have decals over them to make them black so as it was already that colour then just masked the areas ahead of the base coat.

Album image #9
Wings masked as well, there's some fiddly bits to work around but leaves the sections that want to stay black.

Album image #10
They're double sided 😄

Album image #11
Painted with the base coat - Dark Ghost Grey (Vallejo Air 71.120)

Album image #12
Removed the masking on the cockpit and got out all the greys. Picked out various panels in different shades.

Album image #13
The other side of the cockpit. Tried to avoid any symmetry, only panels the same both sides are the light grey on the door.

Album image #14
Cockpit underside gets the same treatment.

Album image #15
Made a start of the fuselage. Got the metallics out as well for this section. Guns get a coat of gunmetal and used some metallic steel on the "engine flaps" at the rear.

The underside of the fuselage.

Album image #18
Masking removed from the wings and some highlighted panels

Album image #19
Masking removed from the top wing (fin?)

Album image #20
All gloss coated and ready for decals and weathering.

Album image #21
Clear parts had a decal on the red window and all three were dipped in Pledge to keep them shiny.

Album image #22
Light grey pinwash has been added and everything has got a matt coat.

Album image #23
In a technique shamelessly borrowed (stolen!) from the HPIGuys Workshop on YouTube, I painted a couple of chrome stripes to give the impression of an engine glow.

Album image #24
Clear parts fitted.

Album image #25
All done, ready to assemble.

Album image #26
All complete 🙂. I'll get the plain background out and upload a 360 later.

Well done. 👍 There are some comments that this kit is not really 1/144 scale. What is your opinion?

Thanks for the comments and likes.

Torsten, it was a quick build you could pretty much do this one over a full weekend. The majority of the time was masking then painting, the kit itself went together in less than an hour.

Chriistian, it is a big ship considering it's 1/144 scale and I don't think it's far off. The red 'window' at the back is 12mm tall which is 1.73m at 1/144 scale which is about the right height for Omega (1.3m according to Wookiepedia) to be able to stand up in her 'bunk' without banging her head. Assuming the guys in Clone Force 99 are just less than 2m tall (14mm) although Wrecker is about that, then that's the height between the top of the cockpit on the model and the seamline half way down the hatch (shown clearly in photo 35) which would allow them to stand in the cockpit, which they do in the series so, I'm happy it's about 1/44 scale.

👍 it is on my list to buy it. The transparent engine exhausts call for some illumination.
