BMW 318is
removed the grille in the bumper to see how it looks
the kit was made of rather thin transparent plastic
added a pieceof plastic to the front to replicate the m-technik style. in order for the lower part to be widened i added another piece of plastic
this was my first try modifying a bodykit. filled the gaps and formed the lower part here. I had serous troubles with keeping the shape. I had to use filling primer at the end because i was unable to form it properly. I guess not enough skill.
at some point after many hours of work i´ve had enough and called it "ready for paining"
it was actually looking not that bad after i covered it with first layer of paint
and here i decided that i should have a metallic paint. i was very unhappy with the result but did not want to invest anymore time and decided to continue
the wheels turned out great, with decals from the original kit and tamiya titanium gold paint for the centers.
road grime included
carpets looked cool. They were beige from the kit so i painted them gray 🙂 You can compare the texture of the carpets with flocking on the rear
no airbag 🙂
here is the weird offset of the driver´s seat. i was unable to place the seat to a different location because of the mounting points. i did not want to redo the mounting points, so just continued.
now with lip and foglights in place
i also had modified the rear bumper a bit- took out some height and added a small lip so that it does not protrudes and looks flush
the exhaust pipes were awful and i did them using ferrules
yes, i did not bother polishing it. somehow the paint came out awfull from the beginning
m3 mirrors
as you can see i also added a 3d printed frontmount intercooler to cover the gap in the engine bay, so its a 318is with a turbo 😉
