4E-Inspiration: Falklands War (1982)

The Falklands (Malvines) War was of great interest to me. It emphasized that armed conflict can break out in unexpected ways. Nobody in the US viewed Argentina as a threat, even though they had been embargoed due to their conflicts with Chile. The war demonstrated to me how Force projection can win wars, when the UK succeeded in recapturing the islands with a relatively small naval fleet with support from long-range bombers. Airpower was a key component of the war, solidifying my resolve to join the US Air Force.
