The DKM S 206 was build in Fr. Lürssen, Vegesack, and set sail August 31 1944; After the war she was taken by the US Navy and placed in OMGUS in January '46 before she arrived to Royal Danish Navy in Copenhagen June 20th 1948 where she served from March 28th 1949 under the number T 55. April 1st 1951 she was once again renamed, this time to HØGEN (The Hawk) with reg. number P 555.
She sank during a collision with another, Danish build torpedo boat at an exercise on September 4th 1957; about a week after she was salvaged from the bottom of Storebælt and and sold for scrap later on the month.
This is one of those conversions that I like to do: My uncle and dad have already build the S-100 model - but they build it as it came out of the box with German colouring and markings; Since I saw the model at them I have decided to build one - but in the post-war Danish navy "uniform". The reason for picking HØGEN isn't the sinking part (although that itself is a story to tell, rather than GLENTEN: Build in 1945, taken by the Americans after the war, put under OMGUS, bought by Denmark 1947, remaned 1951 and sold for scrap 1961) is simply that this boat is a part of the kit (in the German version); 206.
I could also build the DKM S 68, which also is a part of the kit and also were sold to Denmark in 1947 (parts were used from it in 1949), renamed in 1951 (of cause) to VIBEN (P 568 - previously T 62) and took part in a Danish Navy movie in 1960, had engine trouble in 1964, removed from the navy 1965 and were sold for scrap in 1966.
The 17 S-100 that Denmark acquired (11 from USA, and six from Norway in 1951) were active from 1947-1965.
