I like old Monogram kits from the 70s-80s.
I like this one too, but it's more of a love-hate relationship.
This was a first metal finish (Alclad) as well as a first attempt at rescribing along with the usual Monogram fit issues. Recontouring the pylons alone to fit the wing curve was a headache.
Combining it all put me off modeling for a year, not to mention a cat attack that broke the rear canopy loose after spending hours fitting it.
Yeah, I bit off too much at once, but it's in the weathering and "fiddly bits" stage, so as much as I like it, I'll be glad to get this one off the bench.
Built OOB, with the exception of the decals. Great set for the 401st FBW out of Alexandria, LA circa 1956, but I should have checked more closely, they were made for the Hobby Boss kit and the fuselage stripes don't quite line up due to dimensional differences between the kits. Ugh.
