This was my latest quarantine project -- the Revell/Monogram 1956 Chevrolet Nomad. This was the 1997 issue, and was marked as a Skill Level 3 kit, most likely due to the sheer number of parts and attention to detail required.
This car is Aztec Gold/Adobe Beige from Scalefinishes, and is my first real attempt at a two tone paint job. I think the real Aztec Gold is a little more orange that this came out, but I still love Jameson's paints. The chrome accents were done with a molotow pen with the exception of chrome bits including door handles (nice!), rear view mirror, antenna and hood ornament. Oh and the bumpers -- bumpers for miles! I finished the exterior with a custom plate made using the ACME license plate maker. The tires were four parts -- backing, white wall, hubcaps and the rubber tire. They could have used a black wash, and I did not do the color matching trim ring.
The interior was done with matching colors, in a two tone motif using reference photos from the internet. The carpet was flocked using material also from scalefinishes. The dash was finished off with decals that were included in the kit.
The engine replicates the 283 V8 (I think). I finished it with a wired distributor, battery wires, a PE radiator cap and some decals from the kit. The chassis was fairly basic and straightforward, although the stance looks off to me -- like the front end is too high.
Overall, for a kit that is 23 years old, this molding held up superbly. The detail was crisp, there was minimal flash even on the tiniest of parts and the small detail pieces are items that just aren't included in many newer kits (IMHO). My only beef was the fitment of the chassis assembly to the body. I can't figure out what it hung up on and why its failed to mate up properly, but a liberal application of glue, some tape and alot of patience took care of that.
