I bought this kit before really digging myself into Scalemates, so I did about zero research about, I just saw it on the shelf, thought the previous Revell kit (the Spitfire Mk.II) was good, this one is pretty cheap, why not to build it, I really like the P-51. Well that was a bad mistake, because I soon realized why it was cheaper.
Bad fitting, bad details, wrong shapes (longer nose), bad places from ejector pins. Then I did some research, then I found out this was a tooling from the sixties. That explained a lot, but I finished the model nontheless of course, and with the decals and all, it wasn't all that bad in the end (not nice either). I didn't do any weathering except for some chipping on painted areas and the fuel/oil stains, because I didn't want to ruin the shiny look of the NMF finish of the P-51.
Aluminum paint was pretty much a headache because it had that weird consistency (at least for my beginner skills), and there is still clearly a lot to learn about brush painting, but it's only a matter of time and patience I guess.
Paints used:
-Revell enamels
-Italeri acrylics (clear coat)
PS: Don't buy this kit.
