Wow, I think the people at Revell read the comments here on Scalemates.🤯 This kit has NEW parts except the roof board, namely the lower grille and antenna! Of course, the engine remains air-cooled and not water-cooled... But it's already much better than the lower grille in the form of a decal.👍

Most likely, "NEW TOOLED PARTS" is just a board on the roof😅.
I wouldn't be surprised if Revell used this 3D model as a reference:

No way! This is interessting! And I'm curious about, whether they put in the lower grille for the water cooled engine. My guess: no.

The box says 78 or 79 parts, and the 2022 edition says 77 parts, so apart from the roof board I doubt there will be any more parts. I think the lower grille will be made as a decal.
But in any case, there will be good decals, you will not need to create your own. It will still be a cool set.👍
This set will be a great base for creating the perfect replica.

They could still be taking out some parts and replace them with others though, which would skew the number parts, they've done that before. If you look at the parts layout, the lower grille is not difficult to replace with a new part. That said, they have replaced with a decal before, so it is true that most likely they will do that.

Yes, it is possible to change a part, the layout of parts allows it, but it is unlikely that Revell will make new forms.
I like the fact that there will be good decals in this kit. At least I hope so... Hopefully they'll at least get the "Volkswagen" and "Vanagon GL" trunk lettering right.
