Hi Alec, indeed. It is a good kit, quite simple with a manageable number of components. Just like the original: no comparison with the Seaking in terms of equipment and complexity. In addition, it should only be one project in between. According „to my terms" OOB. 🙂🙂

Looks great! Nice to see that the pieces fit so well.
I can't wait to see which blue you decide on. I picked up Gunze H54, but I'm not sure if I like it yet.

Beauty! Excellent model and assembly. It's a pity that there is no such model from AMP in 1:72.

This one is pretty special to me. I can remember the day the original kit was bought, when I went shopping with my Mum in East Grinstead (Sussex, UK) which was rare expedition, I spotted a Model shop, which was something of a rarity to me, as the town we lived in, model kits were only found in Newsagents and toy shops. I'd been to Brighton's amazing Beatties Model shop, and just down the road to Model Aerodrome too, but these were in a big town.
These three model shops, the only ones I knew existed until I was 16, are now a Charity Shop, A Pizza Hut and an Espresso Shop respectively. Browsing through the newly discovered model shop, I spotted The newly released Mustang and Wetbikes, the Box art really trigger the imagination. Until then, every model kit box I'd seen had an artists impression of the aircraft, which may or may not look like the finished article. This was a photo of the finished model, and it looked cool.
Without further delay, my pocket money was advanced a couple of days early, and the Mustang was coming home with me. Looking back, it's quite likely that some extra was added to my pocket money on that day.
The Mustang was painted and built in less than 2 days. Original interior was painted Gloss black, the body shell left in white plastic, and the blue stripe painted on the lower half. The louvres were painted matt black, but I never painted the blue bonnet stripe. The trailer was painted entirely gloss black, and the wetbikes had black skis, and silver motor pods, with bare white plastic upper and the seats painted black. Engine bay on the mustang was matt black as was the engine. All the paint was Humbrol enamels brushed on with questionable accuracy (I was 9 years old!), and no concept of primer.
Thinking back, this was also my first attempt at painting a kit "Properly". Not long after, the Mustang and Trailer was joined by the Turbo Cobra, and the Turbo Capri, from the same shop.
I remember just two more Kit purchases from my first 30 years of model making, one of which involves a now lost kit, and the other I have just remembered is still only part built after 40 years, and I think I still have the whole kit. But these are stories for when I do those builds, and they will be coming.

Before I get started with this, I've decided to restore the originals at the same time. I also have a Turbo Cobra kit from the same era that I got for next to nothing because it is incomplete. Picture Number 7 shows the originals, and you can see the scale of the task ahead (scuse the pun). So, effectively it'll be 5 builds, 3 of which are full restorations, and 4 of which will require the manufacturing of parts in Resin. Fortunately, I have all of the parts that I need for the patterns.
The Front ends on the originals got switched around so the Capri front is on the Cobra and vice versa. Colour schemes are going to be interesting, The two Turbo Mustangs will be done in their original White & Blue scheme (with a twist), the Cobras will be in different colours, at least one of which will be red, and the Capri in the original Silver

I now own this kit too, thanks to your inspiration. When I get around to it, I'll make an album 😉

The Amtronic is the car of the future as AMT thought it would look like back in 1969. AMT created this iconic concept model kit after a Detroit car show. The Amtronic is actually two vehicles in one. The two-place forward section could separate and travel on its own. For longer trips, the rear "station wagon" module would attach to the forward section for significantly more capacity. The Amtronic has aircraft-like retractable wheels. For longer range transport, this vehicle would engage a magnetic rail system that would allow the car to be propelled several hundred miles per hour. The car would generate its own lift thrust using two turbine-powered lift fans while engaged on the magnetic rail system.

Thanks Spanjaard. I'm making minor improvements to the set up as I use the space, but it's much more ergonomically laid out. I also raised the worktop level so that I'm not bending over as much as I used to, and that's much better for my back. Just make sure you have plenty of storage when you do yours. I've filled all the drawers and have still got stuff that needs a home.
The magnetic, under-shelf tool storage works very well so I'd recommend that.

That's a good name for the room Urban, although I'm not sure I would be classed as entirely sane.
Gordon: I wish mine was that neat and organised as well! The photos are before any plastic was mangled. I've added another photo on the end to give a more accurate image of what's it's like in use.

😄 (I assume that is supposed to represent laughing – it looks more like constipation to me).
Spanjaard: The ducting was one of my slightly better ideas. It doesn't get rid of the paint smells completely, but it's much better than it was. Incidentally the stuff I used is called 'Kair System 100 Rectangular'. I bought it from a well known South American river😉 and it was quite a reasonable price - £37 all in. The brackets are overpriced but I managed to do it with just one of them.

Very nice job Gorby, and considering your self-reported aversion to labor a laudable effort indeed. I envy the natural light (my cave is in the basement, so no cigar). Nice work on the tool storage and compressor mounting as well 👍

Thanks Alec. I had hoped those years of manual labour were behind me, it's not good for your health you know. The compressor mounting works well – the rubber shelf mounting and the rubber mat absorb quite a lot of the vibration, so it sounds much quieter.

Set up looking 👍👍 will make a pleasant place to work.
I noticed you have to water trap on your airbrush..... Would you recommend l use my one for spraying Tamiya paints ??
I've just used straight air pipe up to now on my water base acrylics ... mainly Velejo.

Mr. D, it's a bit odd....when I don't use the trap I have problems with the airbrush, but the trap appears to have never trapped any water. My advice would be - if you don't have any problems, don't change what you're doing.

Rui, these days I can barely find my work bench without my optivisor. 😄 😄
David, I do it because I like the challenge as well...and I can't write symphonies. Scratch-building in 1/72 also gives me a chance to practice swearing. I'm getting quite good at it now. 😳
