it was requested in SCM Newsfeed but i have not seen updates about it being implemented. maybe it is good to have it here as a new request (the other has status "implemented")

in the above mentioned request, Tim asked if the request was
A) globally enable/disable these notifications.
B) enable/disable them for specific kits only

both would be great, so for those who do not want the notification at all, they can cancel them with just one click (option A). but having the B also available, would mean that if you turn the notification for a few kits, you will get notified only for those, and not for the other. if too much work, then global only will be the best.

Is it possible to enable this notification only for specific kits? Now it seems to be enabled for all kits in the wishlist, while it might be more useful if you could only get notifications for specific kits of your choosing

I think most members have a 700 item wishlist. The thing is, I want to be able to get a notification when a rare kit comes up for sale. I don't mind getting a notification for every kit on my wishlist, but I can imagine some do. I think it would be nice to have the option to enable notifications for specific kits you're looking for. Like a button in the trade section of a kit you can click to receive the notification, just like the 'notify me when in stock' button on some websites.

I struggle (=my issue) to understand the value/reason of:
1) Having 700 (and some even 2000/5000) items in your wishlist
2) When they are on your wishlist actually not be interested in new buying opportunities. (eg. a non rare kit; for a great price = I would be interested)

Are there multiple levels of wishlist "Must have"/"Nice to have"?
Is the wishlist used for some missing features on scalemates"

in my case I use the wishlist for things that I find interesting and that I would like to have (one day) but i d not plan to buy immediately. that is why i have 867 items there 🙂
Only possible change would be to have the options of enable/disable the option, so if somebody is not interested to get those notifications, it will not be bother with them. other than that, i think is perfect the way it is now.

So having the ability to mark a kit as "interested" and seeing a list of those kits next to your wishlist is the missing feature?

You can move items to and from the interested list to the actual wishlist.

Interested = not actively actively looking (=no notifications)
Wishlist = actively looking and likely to buy when there is a good opportunity

I would just leave it as it is 🙂
if somebody complains about the notifications, then adding the option of enable/disable them would be an option. i guess somebody with 5000 items in the wishlist may bet quite a few messages 😉

altogether. i want to have those notifications, but i can understand maybe not everybody will.

I agree with Spanjaard. I don't think a rework of the wishlist system is required. For me, the current notification system is a great addition. Add an option to enable/disable it for those that don't want to receive them just in case. I personally have a wishlist with items I want for current/future projects so everything on that list is indeed something I would be interested in buying.

B. Klick on the + in my wishlist next to the kits, a button in the green field under "Actions" saying "enable/disable notifications" could be an easy way for me.

Personally I use the wishlist to help my wife, relatives and friends to buy model kits as presents for me, and occasionally when I'm out shopping to see if they have something that's on there or when I find an interesting looking kit in a shop with plans to buy it at a later point, so more of a "kits I may be interested in getting at some point in time" list.

If disabling notifications is implemented I would suggest including a way to do a bulk action for enabling/disabling them especially for the people with huge wishlists.

I just want to add to this topic (I also made a similar request - SCM Newsfeed )
Having an item on the Wishlist, doesn't mean I want to buy it through scalemates, so having that notification is of no value to me, just pure spam.
And of course over the decade I gathered hundreds of kits on my Wishlist and also few hundreds less in my stash, do not see the reason I should feel guilty with that 🙂

It would be best to have the option to disable/enable such notifications.
