Good deal. Monogram's decals are pretty thick but the upside is they don't disintegrate as easily.

Exactly. I used some of the original decals on the Monogram Flak Bait that I built many years ago from an original issue white box kit, and they worked just fine.

I've got the 1977 B-29 decals and they look pretty good. Now if I can just summon the mojo to attempt a metal finish on the beast....

I hear ya. I'm trying out some new paints here for NMF. Looking for what might work better on all the lots that need it in my stash.

Thank you Jorge. I can't complain about how it's coming along, that's for sure.

That turned out fantastic! 👍 👍 I think 23 years in the stash is just getting aged properly.

John & Rui, thank you for your kind words.
23 years was good seasoning for this one 😉
Rui, I am quite jazzed at how well the final shine turned out.

Very nice finish, very glossy as the real thing. One remark: Blue Angels hornets had their gun removed and the openings for it were closed off. See: [img1]

Neuling & tyu, thank you for looking in and your comments.
tyu, so I see in that photo. Too bad that tidbit of information is after completion of this build… ah well, too late now.

I am fascinated how you conjured up a shining bird from the old kit! Very very nice glossy finish!

Thank you Andreas. It was strictly the paint. I used Humbrol enamel, thinned with Testors Universal Enamel Airbrush Thinner. That is the shiniest paint job that I've ever achieved. Zero orange peel effect or polishing needed. I did do a gloss clear coat after the decal were on, just to seal them in and give a uniform finish, since the decals themselves were semi gloss in finish on their own.
