Meng - BMR-3M Amoured Mine Clearing Vehicle - Construction
![Album image #1 Album image #1](/albums/img/1/2/9/1603129-64925-96-720.jpg)
Tracks, tracks, tracks.... Decided to tackle the tracks first...
![Album image #2 Album image #2](/albums/img/5/9/6/1603596-64925-19-720.jpg)
Right... 492 peices done... 800 left to go... And I haven't even started on the vehicle itself... Lol... These weren't too bad to be honest... About 6 to 8 hrs I had these altogether..
![Album image #3 Album image #3](/albums/img/0/2/3/1604023-64925-97-720.jpg)
12 Road wheels 2 Idlers and 2 Sprockets... Boring..!! Lol
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/0/4/2/1604042-64925-57-720.jpg)
Boring part done...! Sprue nubs to the roadwheels were surprisingly easy to clean up... Not like Takom's heavy tread pattern... Mengs tread pattern is much more refined...
![Album image #5 Album image #5](/albums/img/1/2/5/1604125-64925-22-720.jpg)
Lower suspension in... Roadwheels, idlers and sprockets on... Tracks wrapped around... Not too shabby for a day at the bench...
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/1/2/7/1604127-64925-63-720.jpg)
This is shaping up to be a great kit if the lower running gear is any sign... Clean up has been minimal... Fits perfectly...
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/3/1/4/1604314-64925-54-720.jpg)
Test fitting the fighting compartment panels to the hull...
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/3/1/5/1604315-64925-27-720.jpg)
This kit just falls together... Panels snap into place and without any bonding there's little to no gap all round...
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/4/8/1/1605481-64925-61-720.jpg)
Texturing the main Hull plates...
![Album image #10 Album image #10](/albums/img/5/8/2/1606582-64925-66-720.jpg)
Additional weld detail added to the main hull plates...
![Album image #11 Album image #11](/albums/img/5/8/3/1606583-64925-31-720.jpg)
More welds...
![Album image #12 Album image #12](/albums/img/5/8/5/1606585-64925-44-720.jpg)
Over welding... Going cross eyed...
![Album image #13 Album image #13](/albums/img/6/8/6/1606686-64925-16-720.jpg)
![Album image #14 Album image #14](/albums/img/6/8/7/1606687-64925-25-720.jpg)
![Album image #15 Album image #15](/albums/img/6/8/8/1606688-64925-87-720.jpg)
![Album image #16 Album image #16](/albums/img/6/8/9/1606689-64925-69-720.jpg)
![Album image #17 Album image #17](/albums/img/4/5/1/1607451-64925-97-720.jpg)
Took the time out to make a new welding tool... Definitely an improvement...
![Album image #18 Album image #18](/albums/img/4/5/5/1607455-64925-94-720.jpg)
A little more done tonight... Upper and Lower Hulls bonded together with a few items added to the rear deck...
![Album image #19 Album image #19](/albums/img/7/1/8/1607718-64925-29-720.jpg)
PE Grills fits like a glove...
![Album image #20 Album image #20](/albums/img/4/2/9/1608429-64925-21-720.jpg)
Bit of detail to thenside walls...
![Album image #21 Album image #21](/albums/img/4/3/0/1608430-64925-36-720.jpg)
![Album image #22 Album image #22](/albums/img/4/3/1/1608431-64925-56-720.jpg)
![Album image #23 Album image #23](/albums/img/4/3/2/1608432-64925-85-720.jpg)
Rear tanks added... Would've been nice if these were slide moulded... The usual 2 halves and lid approach... Difficult to get these looking seamless...
![Album image #24 Album image #24](/albums/img/4/3/3/1608433-64925-45-720.jpg)
![Album image #25 Album image #25](/albums/img/4/3/4/1608434-64925-82-720.jpg)
More welding, more bits, more texture...
![Album image #26 Album image #26](/albums/img/4/3/5/1608435-64925-22-720.jpg)
![Album image #27 Album image #27](/albums/img/3/2/7/1609327-64925-35-720.jpg)
It's going to be tight getting into places painting at the rear...
![Album image #28 Album image #28](/albums/img/3/2/8/1609328-64925-74-720.jpg)
Frontal ERA Blocks going on...
![Album image #29 Album image #29](/albums/img/3/2/9/1609329-64925-60-720.jpg)
Last components that require welds are now bonded in place...
![Album image #30 Album image #30](/albums/img/3/3/0/1609330-64925-13-720.jpg)
Looking like something now...
![Album image #31 Album image #31](/albums/img/7/3/6/1609736-64925-48-720.jpg)
Getting through all the small parts... There's quite a few... Some are just too fragile to put on till the end...
![Album image #32 Album image #32](/albums/img/7/3/7/1609737-64925-48-720.jpg)
Rear Tanks and the large spreader bar for the crane are all loose for painting...
![Album image #33 Album image #33](/albums/img/7/3/8/1609738-64925-38-720.jpg)
ERA looking quite cool..
![Album image #34 Album image #34](/albums/img/7/4/0/1609740-64925-83-720.jpg)
Crane jib mounted... Very cool addition...
![Album image #35 Album image #35](/albums/img/7/4/1/1609741-64925-51-720.jpg)
Tool box on this side is still loose... There's quite a tight region at the back of it which will be difficult to paint...
![Album image #36 Album image #36](/albums/img/7/4/2/1609742-64925-55-720.jpg)
Smoke dischargers either side... Made up of 18 pieces... A little bit of welding added to their brackets also...
![Album image #37 Album image #37](/albums/img/8/2/3/1609823-64925-84-720.jpg)
ERA blocks everywhere...! Side skirts really making an impact...
![Album image #38 Album image #38](/albums/img/2/5/1/1610251-64925-77-720.jpg)
Crane done and dusted... Made up a rope to go with it...
![Album image #39 Album image #39](/albums/img/2/5/2/1610252-64925-46-720.jpg)
Pretty much just got the main armament, a few more ERA blocks and last of the fragile peices to the roof to go on... Then onto the mine rollers...
![Album image #40 Album image #40](/albums/img/9/2/7/1610927-64925-65-720.jpg)
![Album image #41 Album image #41](/albums/img/9/2/8/1610928-64925-98-720.jpg)
Making a start on the mine rollers...
![Album image #42 Album image #42](/albums/img/9/2/9/1610929-64925-33-720.jpg)
Putting his claws together... I'll take the, up to the point where I can do the welds to the arms rather than following the instructions...
![Album image #43 Album image #43](/albums/img/9/3/0/1610930-64925-97-720.jpg)
Fair bit involved with these mine rollers... Plenty of opportunity to practice welds...
![Album image #44 Album image #44](/albums/img/9/3/1/1610931-64925-65-720.jpg)
![Album image #45 Album image #45](/albums/img/7/1/6/1616716-64925-59-720.jpg)
Almost there... Textured and prepped for welds before permanent bonds are made to the sub assemblies...
![Album image #46 Album image #46](/albums/img/7/1/7/1616717-64925-41-720.jpg)
Texturing the mine roller elements...
![Album image #47 Album image #47](/albums/img/7/0/7/1622707-64925-39-720.jpg)
Welds to the Mine Roler Frame members...
![Album image #48 Album image #48](/albums/img/7/0/6/1622706-64925-83-720.jpg)
Tiny welds to the roller cradles...
![Album image #49 Album image #49](/albums/img/7/0/8/1622708-64925-86-720.jpg)
Welds, welds, welds...
![Album image #50 Album image #50](/albums/img/2/0/7/1623207-64925-93-720.jpg)
Rolling, rolling, rolling...
![Album image #51 Album image #51](/albums/img/2/0/8/1623208-64925-80-720.jpg)
Rollers in their cradles...
![Album image #52 Album image #52](/albums/img/2/0/9/1623209-64925-77-720.jpg)
![Album image #53 Album image #53](/albums/img/9/0/8/1623908-64925-80-720.jpg)
Damn she look tough..!
![Album image #54 Album image #54](/albums/img/9/0/9/1623909-64925-98-720.jpg)
![Album image #55 Album image #55](/albums/img/9/1/1/1623911-64925-36-720.jpg)
Going to be fairly fiddly mounting the rollers... Just getting them to this stage has been a bit of an effort...
![Album image #56 Album image #56](/albums/img/9/1/0/1623910-64925-71-720.jpg)
Russian Beastie..!!
![Album image #57 Album image #57](/albums/img/9/1/2/1623912-64925-61-720.jpg)
Not far to go now...
![Album image #58 Album image #58](/albums/img/2/0/4/1624204-64925-45-720.jpg)
Thats one roller attached to its arm... Gotta say this was super tedious and fiddly to do... The instructions say 5 links but the imagery shows only 4 links of chain on the front end... Its pretty darn tight getting the pin thru such a short chain... So best off going with 5 if you ever build it... I managed to correct things however...
![Album image #59 Album image #59](/albums/img/5/3/8/1626538-64925-57-720.jpg)
![Album image #60 Album image #60](/albums/img/5/3/9/1626539-64925-82-720.jpg)
Mine rollers almost done...
![Album image #61 Album image #61](/albums/img/5/4/0/1626540-64925-13-720.jpg)
![Album image #62 Album image #62](/albums/img/5/4/2/1626542-64925-44-720.jpg)
The supplied metal cable for the mine rollers felt a little underscale and their texture wasn't all that crash hot... Found some alternative cable to replace them although a little on the large side, but the texture looks much better...
![Album image #63 Album image #63](/albums/img/7/1/4/1627714-64925-29-720.jpg)
Cables for the mine rollers added using 0.030" lead wire.
![Album image #64 Album image #64](/albums/img/7/1/5/1627715-64925-88-720.jpg)
Considering leaving the long range tanks off...
![Album image #65 Album image #65](/albums/img/7/1/6/1627716-64925-67-720.jpg)
Last few items being bonded.
![Album image #66 Album image #66](/albums/img/7/1/7/1627717-64925-90-720.jpg)
![Album image #67 Album image #67](/albums/img/7/1/8/1627718-64925-82-720.jpg)
Everything ready to go except the main gun...
![Album image #68 Album image #68](/albums/img/7/2/1/1627721-64925-93-720.jpg)
![Album image #69 Album image #69](/albums/img/7/2/0/1627720-64925-34-720.jpg)
So very close now...!
![Album image #70 Album image #70](/albums/img/5/4/2/1628542-64925-94-720.jpg)
Main gun completed... Gotta say this is a model unto it's own... Quite a bit tedious but at this size therei dont think many manufacturers could've improved on it with this level of detai.. None the less I got there..
![Album image #71 Album image #71](/albums/img/6/2/3/1628623-64925-54-720.jpg)
Main gun mounted...
![Album image #72 Album image #72](/albums/img/6/2/4/1628624-64925-62-720.jpg)

![Album image #75 Album image #75](/albums/img/6/2/7/1628627-64925-10-720.jpg)
Noice..!!
![Album image #76 Album image #76](/albums/img/6/2/8/1628628-64925-73-720.jpg)
![Album image #77 Album image #77](/albums/img/6/2/9/1628629-64925-50-720.jpg)
A number of elements are still left loose till paint...
![Album image #78 Album image #78](/albums/img/6/3/0/1628630-64925-84-720.jpg)
![Album image #79 Album image #79](/albums/img/6/3/1/1628631-64925-65-720.jpg)
![Album image #80 Album image #80](/albums/img/6/3/2/1628632-64925-34-720.jpg)
![Album image #81 Album image #81](/albums/img/6/3/3/1628633-64925-14-720.jpg)
And she's done... This is a big kit with a lot going on... But being a Meng kit it goes together very well... There are some tedious areas but its to be expected on such a complex build... Solid 9 outta 10 on this one... Another top kit from Meng...! Go get one...

Every one of the reviews I've read say that the tracks were the most tedious part of the build. So, looks like you're ahead of the game. Looking forward to more, Eddy. Enjoy it.🍻

Cheers John... Honestly... As far as plastic workable tracks go, these are probably the easiest I've put together... No glue and click together... The tedious part is sanding the sprue nubs to all of them, not that theyre visible... It took about 6 hrs in total... Last night's session i managed 110 links in an assembly line fashion... Sharp sprue cutters do help though...
