This will be the vehicle of LT. Charles Pearce. He was acting as a Liaison officer within the 22nd Armored Brigade and was the second vehicle in the advance to Villers Bocage behind a leading Cromwell. The scene will represent LT. Pearce scouting with binoculars. The history reports that he spotted an 8 wheeled German scout vehicle, some think and SdKfz. 231, but was unable to get any of the tanks to respond and engage before the German vehicle left the scene.

I like the details in your model, good work! Where are the wires for (red wires from the hatch)?

Thanks for the comments. This is my 5th of 9 projects centered around Villers Bocage. The wires are radio wires. I will have a figure standing in the open hatch speaking into a mic, the wires being attached to the mic and head phones. Similar to what I did with my M3A3 Stuart.

The just added pics show painting progress. Need to reattach some bits knocked off in the process and then get the paint tightened up. I will hit it with a clear flat coat and begin weathering next.

The base and figures. The base was build up with sheet styrene. To keep the weight down I filled most of it with expanding insulation foam and then topped it with a layer of celluclay mixture. The ground work and brush are from Woodland scenic, the live tree is Verlinden and the fallen logs and dead tree are Armand Bayardi.
The figures are Miniart Bodies with Hornet heads.

Pure mastery, with nothing left to the imagination, and as the painted images appear, it has been a delight to go back through you work again and just look and look and look, at the fantastic detail and results you have achieved. Sheer brilliance and a joy to see.👍 🙂
Salute. 🙂

Thank you my friend. I took a bit of a hiatus over the holidays and through the beginning of the year to handle family business. I forgot how much joy I get from this. I hope to have this one finished up in a few days. I have a few goodies to add to my Cromwell piece as well. The Sherman OP I am working on I hope to have done before the AMPs Nationals in South Carolina next month. Hope you are doing well.

All is good this side of the Pacific Henry, I am still enjoying the hobby, and currently have two I/48 RAAF F-4E's on the go with some bells and whistles. 🙂
What will you be taking to the APM comp. ?
Several things I imagine, and please keep us posted on what happens there. 👍
I took some time to remind myself of just how good your builds are and it's always a delight to go through the images and remember to 'do that to mine' on the next one. hehehe. 🙂
I have two (I love pairs) AFV Aussie Viet Nam MkV 'Centurions' to play with soon, but just what I will 'do' with them is yet undecided, but there are plenty of ideas from your weathering techniques I could try, so I will be back for more looks soon mate.👍
Cheers. 🙂

I will be taking all my Villers Bocage stuff, 5 items. I have a few other things that may make the trip as well. I will definitely post from there. The show is the 7-9 April.

Ho Ho, looking forward to that lot mate.👍
I wish you the very best and favourable judging too. 🙂
I wouldn't be at all surprised if you walk a way with a bag full, for sure. 🙂 👍

The work you see at an AMPs Nationals is amazing. I spend the better part of Saturday photographing all the great work. It is also fun to get some other modelers to look at your work and get feedback. I have bettered my skills that way for years.

Eric,
I sent the decals out yesterday in a very rigid cardboard envelope so they should arrive in good shape.

Great piece and great setting. There are certainly many striking images and potential dioramas from the Villers-Bocage battles between the 12th SS,101st SS Heavy Tank Battalion and Panzer Lehr on one side and the various British and Canadian formations on the other.

I agree with Holger, Olivier and Rui. You painted a very good facial expression of the radio man.
