The original kit when [1966] I bought it..a very long time ago...
the real thing when was landing on Ark Royal [Feb.1963]
P.1127 has Landed on Ark Royal
The original kit Out of Box ...indeed “OUT of transparent bag”
Mine, at left as original AIRFIX & the Angus McDonald work. Mine will be different in undergear bays...
I created the two gear bays with scratch stuff...
The undergear wells termined. Noteworthy the thick blue/grey Milliput layers have been added to the intakes, and then modelled, for reproduce the prototype XP831 “inflated” intakes appearance ...
Left wing just placed, ‘cause tried to get alignement & angle....[noteworthy the huge "gap" with fuselage]
....need a lot of ciano glue, milliput and putty..GOSH!!
Note the huge GAP!!
Comparison verified between my kit and the drawings...
I got the right angle for the left wing. 🙂
replacing nose wheel with scratch wheel...better!
gear modified and I’m just ready to add the replacing wheel
gear modified front view
the nose wheel gear before and after my mod
Front view. [It is not glued to the floor, but just placed!!
Main gear new wheels, more suitable, from scratch
Under-carriage gear completed and placed on [not glued! ] card base. Note the Bronze shade color for internal breaks of principal twin wheels.
Original AIRFIX RR Pegasus Fan & mine kit mod...
Wings and the nose pitot boom applied
Tons of body putty for fixing the huge gaps
Before spraying 2-3 layers of acrylic primer gray...
original Nose is too long and wrong...at left. Right: the right shape after my intervention.
after many hours of work, I got the right nose profile
now its Nose is correct in shape.
overall Primer is drying. Left side.
Front view
Right side. Note the power supply turbine well i added into upper fuselage
added antenna boom on fin
Some details made on tail boom. And it has been added the underneath light.
Bottom view with both u/c gear wells, opened. Noteworthy the two ventral strakes i added from scratch.
Indeed...I think my Baby is growing fine....
At left, original seat. At right, my Martin Baker Mk.4 seat, from spares scratch pieces.
NM finish by Humbrol Metalcote matt Aluminium in different shades [Canopy just for portrait, it will be glued after decalling]
Rear view after NM paint
DONE! Hawker P.1127 on the deck of HMS ARK ROYAL for the first historical VTOL landing on a carrier at FEB 3rd, 1963.
Noteworthy the power supply turbine shown extracted
close-up on nose decals

Łukasz Gliński Highly impressive how much work you put into that old and poor kit
The result is outstanding
Maciej Bellos What can I say... Terrific work on a very crude kit!

Lex Jassies I can remember building this kit way back in the stone age. Cleaning it up with used razor blades from my father. You take this kit ten steps higher! A beauty.
LIVIO FARINA Made me bluish, dear mates! )) Thank you ALL, for your kind comments. 🙂

Album info
HAWKER P.1127 - An AIRFIX 1/72 kit.
After a week spent for searching & watching the most pics
I got from the Web about this machine...now I am starting
the building of my new project:
The first P.1127 prototype XP831, by AIRFIX.
Very complicated task, 'cause the kit rather than injection mold,
indeed it LOOKS LIKE a Short Run.))
It has nothing for interiors, for the cockpit [ it's just a poor seat ]
undergear and power supply turbine wells,
and crude gear and wheels. Thus,
in a moment of madness..I've decided to go for an all
out effort on this ancient [AIRFIX released it in 1963]
Hawker P.1127, 1/72 scale kit.
Legend tells of rivets like barnacles, whimsical details
and parts that lightly caress each other, rather
than fitting like gloves. ))
I shall fear nought though, for my arms to slay this beast
will be plasticard, Milliputt, plastic rod and strut together...
..with the shield of beer drinks cans. [written in AUG 12nd, 2015]
