Roman limes watch tower - completed

Hi Bernhard, interesting subject. I will definitely follow this.I had a lot of fun building my Germania-Figures civil war vignette. The Germania-Figures are really nice in detail and a fun to build and paint. The Roman watchtower looks interesting too. Looking forward how it will come out at the end.

The fit of the laser cut parts is excellent. It was pure fun to gluing the balsa and card work parts together. I use watter thinned "white" wood-glue an applied them with two brushes: wide and flat for large areas and fine for tiny parts. Unfortunately I make a mistake (overlooked a clear hint in the instruction sheet) and mounted the wider "stone base" too low🙁

Für dich als Stash-Mate paar Zusatzinfos: die tragenden Seitenwände sind auf "Nut und Feder" zusammengefügt. Wichtig, dass sie ohne Spiel und Spalt zusammengeklebt werden. War mir klar aber dennoch habe ich an einer Stelle nicht aufgepasst und der Papierstreifen mit dem "Mauerstück" war zu kurz. Da half nur 180er Schleifpapier. Übrigens klappt das kleben mit Weißleim prima: m.E besser als mit Kontaktkleber da Weissleim eher matt trocknet und gut Fügen füllt.

All 4 gallery-parts in place.
Picture 9: The support arms on the right side consists of long pieces through the inside building and short drag struts: because of this the alignment is automatic. The support struts on the left side are v-shaped. I glued them first only on the lower side and after drying I aligned them. All the trapezoid-shaped walkways parts should be shortened about 0,5 a 1 mm for perfect fit.

Today morning I finished the roofing. So the soldiers can move in without there bunks getting wet (by the way: the kit contains two bunks, one table and two chairs. 🙂

Yesterday I looked in the net for ideas for the diorama and discovered several cut out pictures showing the interior of the limes towers. Of course the beds were on the second flor, and my roof was already glued in place🙁......
But there is always good side: the windows in top flor are much bigger so you can see more🙂

I never thought that it would be so difficult to fit the figures on the grass. One could think that the soldiers have drunk too much wine....🙂 A piece of 0.4 mm wire glued into holes in the legs helped to hold the figures in place.
By the way: to break the monotony of the very clean walls (white paper) I used different pastels here and there.
