I'm happy with it. I would have liked it to be a bit smoother & shinier, but HEY, it's not bad for an amateur.
This time I used craft acrylic poly clear and had to sand, buff & polish it. It's a toss up between using the Pledge. I've had good luck on a few with that, but can't seem to keep it consistent so I opted for the poly this time.
I'm going to purchase a new airbrush when the $1400 comes, maybe I'll have better luck with a better AB. We'll see!
I'll be working on the stage for a while, then pick another project in between when that gets me frustrated !!!

look around for those AB. and if you have a chance to test them, even better. i used a cheapo airbrus from quite some time, and when i decided to get one, i was sure about getting a Iwata, then in the shop they let me try the Infinity Two in One (Harder & Steenbeck 126543, No) i felt it love with it inmediately.

Hmmmm,,, I wish I could "TEST" some different ABs. I think I'd find mine is not as good as it was made out to be.
I've looked at those H&S & the Iwata's also. I've watched some reviews on the Creos [mr hobby] Procon Boy PS-290 0.5mm Pistol Trigger Type [15ml cup & fan cap] $140, and the PS PS-289 0.3mm Platinum $120, w/a .2mm kit $50. They rate quite favorable compared to the H&S & Iwata's. They are made in Japan & should be of good quality.
Thing is I'm right handed, but had nerve damage in my R elbow in my 20s from a car wreck. So when I started modeling I had to learn to use the AB left handed! After 5 years or so practicing I consider I've gotten fairly decent with it. I had bought a Paasche Vision which has a trigger stop & mac valve. That way I can adjust the paint & air flow to whatever I'm painting & just go. I'd have a hard time with a true double action brush.
When I bought this AB it came highly recommended [lots of good reviews], it was $200 [but made in China of course]! It came with a .25mm [#1] & .66 [#3] needles. I also bought the #2 set [.38mm] and use the 1 & 2 for smaller jobs. I started mainly used the #3 painting airplanes and then did some cars once I felt I had practiced enough [lol]. After doing maybe 10 kits I noticed the needle is sticking out past the tip guard??? When I looked at it closely with a 10x jewelers loupe I noticed that when I pull back the trigger the needle doesn't stay in the center of the tip, but rides on the upper left side of the tip, causing it to wear! I replaced the tips several times in 5 years.
Painting with it, it seems to atomize well, but it just can't be spraying a nice round circle like it should be. I think I've been struggling with this problematic AB all this time. I've had a few come out real nice [smooth clear coat], but can't seem to be consistent with it.
I watched a few videos lately on basic airbrushing again! [floreymodels has a couple good tutorials] . This Paasche cannot lay down a nice thin fine line no matter what I do. I'm sure its because the needle is NOT centered in the tip! I'm betting an AB that is centered will do a much nicer job for me. Well, I intend to find out anyway.
If you get a few minutes check out the reviews on Youtube for the Procon Boy PS 289 & 290 & let me know what you think. I would definitely appreciate your opinion.
All these past 5 years I've wished I could meet up with someone who could teach me airbrushing tips & techniques, try different ABs, have an experienced person give me some pointers & try out my AB and tell me if it's a POS. There are no modeling clubs in my area less than an hour away, so I've been flying blind for 5 years!!! lol
Iwata's & H&S's w mac valve & needle stops are quite pricey. I just don't think I'm coordinated enough to do it left handed without the extra little helpers [cheaters].
Anyway, thanks for the comment Spanjaard. I'm still waiting for the "so called" "stimulus" $$$ before I can afford a new AB anyway.

I'm gonna order them real soon. Actually I've added another, the Procon PS-268AR 0.4 single action. Just watched a nice review of it [Barbatos Rex on Youtube]. I thought it would be a good one for my grandson to start with & I could use it too !! I'm pretty sure these ABs will put my old one to shame !!

Great info here, One of my AB's is the lowest one ..a single action from Harbor freight , Paasche sells a identical "beginners" model a decent one is well worth the price for the results achieved .

I have checked out Don's site in the past, lots of good info there.
I've really only used the PS-289 with the 2mm tip to do the horses for the stagecoach. It worked real well for that. I have tested the others just for basic function. They atomize very well, much better than the old Paasche for sure. But, I really haven't had a chance to use them on a larger project yet.
OH, I did put a primer coat on the Lincoln with the PS-290 and it put on a pretty nice coat of primer, but I haven't played with it much.
When I get to use them more I'll try to remember to post some results.

I have 2 Iwata airbrushes, 4 Master one's 2 Harbor freight (Double action suction feed) 1 Bartsharp and 2 Badger 350's. I use the harbor freight ones for my metal paints, they have adjustable triggers, adj needle travel and work great for metals and clears. My favoriates are the Master's by TCP global. I get excellent consistent finishes with them and they have proven very durable. My therory is most expensive is not always best. Lol.

My h&s has a floating tip that self centers, so at least that problem is taken care of.
