Finally made enough progress on this silly idea.
I wanted to recreate the Mirage Tank from Command & Concquer: Red Alert 2.
The Mirage Tank of the Allies can camouflage itself as a tree, ready to ambush Soviet units coming to close.
The unit icon depicts a Challenger tank with its distinctive camouflage generators attached to the turret. So that's what I went for.
I reduced the size of the generators a bit so that I can still use the extra armour on the turret and added some greebles to, hopefully, make them look a bit more interesting.
Didn't do a lot of scratchbuilding yet, it's far from being perfect. On this particular project there wasn't a whole lot or complext stuff I built, it still took several hours.

Another Red Alert 2 fan reporting! This looks very promising as the base tank is right. I have been thinking of scratchbuilding Prism Tank on my unused Leopard chassis parts, but haven't dared to deal with the tracks and there are two or three possible designs; the thumbnail image, cinematic animations and the gameplay pixel model. Hard to choose.

Thanks a lot, S M!
I get what you mean. Hull and tracks are somewhat offset on the Prism Tank. It would be some rather complex operation on the Leopard and a lot of scratchbuilding.
Would love to see you tackle it one day! 👍

Welcome James!
Main colours applied. I decided to use Desert Yellow and Light Grey for the generators and armor.
In the game most of the units of the Allies sport some blue colour but I liked the yellow tank, which I've seen on the unit icon and some artwork better.
The sideskirt has only been dryfitted right now to see how it looks.
I found the sideskirts and some other parts already warped in the box, which makes attaching them a bit more complicated.

Thanks Ahmet. 🙂
I fixed some overspray and painted some details.
Gloss coat and some pictures will follow soon, hopefully.

Gloss coat and probably most of the decals are done.
Next will be some wash and weathering.
I am not sure how far I want to go with the weathering. I don't like it completely clean but I also don't want to go too heavy on scratches and dirt.

It could be pretty clean, because it is mainly camping and doesn't get hit being unseen.

"Nobody's here but us trees!"
The Mirage Tank is completed.
I spent the last few days creating a simple base to place this tank on.
At first I thought about scratchbuilding some trees to get a bit of verticality on this little vignette, but there already was a huge tree in the middle...
Jokes aside, I decided against it to keep it a bit more simple and to save some space on the shelf. There are many more projects I want to do anyways and the one or other aircraft I have in the pipeline will need a lot of space for themselves, like the Mi-26 or the 1:48 scale for jet's I discovered for myself.
This was a fun project. I did some very simple scratchbuilding for the generators and tried some products for the base.
Detailing dioramas/vignettes can be a lot of fun I think I will explore this further in the future.
The decals are from the same batch as the ones I printed for my Rising Squall Hornet. Quality was okay for a first try, but I could not get rid of the silvering completely.
I think in the future I'll get them printed and print only simple stuff myself, like text or numbers. Not being able to print white is a severe problem.
More Mark Fit will probably be used, too on future decals.
I tried a lot of different lighting in the photos this time, that's why there are a lot of photos of the finished tank. Daylight would be best but I haven't found the right spot yet.
Thanks mates for your interest. 🙂

I like your idea of a camo generator
Haven't seen it yet- that's a real what if 😁
I also like the grey color of the addon armor

Looks good ...... I didn´t quite catch the idea of the Wunderpanzer, is it a "what if" or an experimental tank ?

Thank you very much, mates 🙂
Your kind words are much appreciated.
Simon and Neuling, the tank is based on the Mirage Tank, a unit of the Allies from the game Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2.
The unit icon depicts a Challenger Tank with these camo generators added to its turret.
With these they can appear as a tree and lay in wait, ready to ambush unsuspecting enemy units.
I am not sure if it still counts as "what-if" being from a game, but it is definitely a cool concept and was one of my favourite units from Red Alert 2.

I would love to do a Tesla Tank one day, too.

Haha, thanks!
Yeah, my first scale model tree 😄
I try some silly stuff like this from time to time. They are indeed a nice change of pace between "normal" projects.
Yes, I've seen some great Mad Max models here on SM too, should be fun.

I don't know the game, but the tank looks 😎. I'd rather not ask about the function of all the attachments, is probably ROC

Большое спасибо. 🙂
@Torsten: In the game all the attachments makes it look like a tree to the human eye.
But yeah, it's kinda ROC. Red Alert is full of such stuff.

Album info
Allied Mirage Tank from C&C Red Alert 2.
The unit icon depicts a Challenger with strange "boxes" added to the turret. These camouflage generators give the tank the ability to appear as a tree to others looking at it.
