Scalemates Schwalbe Group build 2021

Album image #1
Brush applied pre-shading could have interesting results....

Album image #2
Album image #3
Toned down with thin coat of grey over the top.

Album image #4
My version of 'light blue', which may be toned down to a more greeny-blue later

Album image #5
What I'm aiming for

Album image #6
Tiny plane, big brushes.

Album image #7
Coming together, so will leave to fully dry before next steps. Keeping my options open, for the open or closed access panels.

Album image #8
The darker paint was too thick and lumpy, so I have had to sand it down again, with 1000 grade wet and dry paper.

Album image #9
Much happier with the tones and contrast, and no lumpy areas this time. Still wet, so will see how it dries.

Album image #10
I'm trying out using thin black decal lines for the canopy framing. More lines to add, once these first ones have dried.

Album image #11
Today's progress. The canopy frame looks neat and tidy.

Album image #12
Dry fit of canopy and front access panels. Not sure how I managed to make the paint so uneven.

Album image #13
Remainder of decals to do tomorrow, and prepare the undercarriage.

Album image #14
All decals on, undercarriage installed, and kettenkrad hitched up.

Album image #17
Finished ?

Album image #18
Matt coat to seal the decals and remove some shine.

Many thanks for your 'likes', everyone. It's not my best for sure, but definitely learning as I go! The Spad worked out better, I thought.

I'm thinking about a Matt coat, to kill the gloss....

Nice one Bruce, more so because this is tiny in this scale.
A matt coat would be a good idea.

Many thanks, Jan. Anything 1:72 or larger was already sold out, hence adding this one to the few 1:144 I have already. Painting was the challenge...

And no weight in the bow. But nice built.

Thanks, Bjorn. Yes, a tiny bit of BluTack is doing the job 😉

Many thanks for your 'likes', but I'm tempted to try this kit again, and try to get the painting to my satisfaction. I learned lots of 'what NOT to do's' 😉

Thanks, everyone, for your likes and kind comments. Very few parts and all fitted fine, Guy, so it was all down to me to mess up the painting 😉
