The rudder is sprayed with less density of the darker orange/red mix over orange to show a faint bleached out effect

Thanks Augie, Thomas and WhiteGlint!
.. and a special thanks to Rolf for the Decals 👍 - without them it would have been a more drab looking version

Regarding the missing nose gear door; every Academy F-4C and F-4D kits contain the Navy style front nose wheel door including clear parts and antennas that are not needed for a F-4C or D. Or a replacent resin one: Corrected Nose Gear Door for..ts (Royale Resin R079, 1:48)

Thomas, if you need a front gear door, I have "a few" spare academy and hasegawa phantoms that could provide a nose door.
Looks sweet by the way !!

Wow - many thanks for your comments and all the likes!
btw there is an article on the net about this ship: keymilitary.com/article/f-4-refused-die
@tyu, David: your help is highly appreciated but I still have an Academy Phantom in the stash with at least three different doors. Still hoping the missing piece will turn up however.
@Rolf: die Decals waren sehr dick und sperrig, aber gut recherchiert.

I'm very glad to see yours colorful Phantom. Very well done especially the different shades of IO and the grey. 🙂.P.S. ich finde, dass die "alten Bausätze" mit ihren erhabeneren Gravuren durchaus mit einem gewissen Charme haben.

And here they are : The orange wingtips that you would have liked to see on my Demon 😄 😄
Superpretty result, lovely livery and an excellent build and paintjob !

Thank you all for your positive feedback!
In the meantime I also found a (not 100% correct) replacement for the lost front wheel cover.
@Hanno: a Demon with orange wingtipps would look nice next to the Phantom but there are other projects first

Beautiful job on this model. What paint did you use for the orange? I'd like to get some for myself.

Thanks for all your comments and thumps up!
@Marcel: hope to see you next year at the kit swap!
@Skywalker: the orange is done with Vallejo in thin layers starting with Insignia White 71.279 then Orange 71.083 and then a mix of Orange/Red 71.083/71.086. Spraying the last darker shades with different densities allowed also for a faint bleached out effect on the rudder. I have added a last picture where the effect is (faintly) visible.

Album info
Out of the box build with exception of the decals. I bought the kit at a kitswap without decals.
I will not do any conversion into a proper drone.
And "yes": this kit has raised panels and I will just leave them.
Primed with Ultimate Primer, natural metal areas primed with Tamiya X-1. All other paints coming from Vallejo.
