Not much to see yet, except for references. Currently I am working on blueprints and logos that will be printed on decal sheets.
To do both I trace the shapes of everything with the help of Inkscape.

These paths or vectors can scaled to the right size without loss of information. They stay crisp which is important for printing later.
It probably won't be 100% accurate but I think it can work out.

@Simon: Given the nature of this project it will probably take a long time for me to finish it.
And I know that I will work on other stuff inbetween...
But I had to start with some planning and making blueprints, otherwise nothing will happen.

First steps now are to create blueprints I can work with and cut PS accordingly. I will also need to think about how to build lots of different stuff, like hinges, headlights or the tracks that are still unsolved. But one step at a time.

@elend: The ship in the background is the real AGB 5003 Shirase. Soya has been decommisioned in 1978 and has been moored alongside the Museum of Maritime Science in Tokyo and is used as a museum ship.

Some kind of collab or mini "group build" could be fun. Maybe I can build one of the helicopters that served on the Soya some day. 😎

Bit of slow progress here. I am almost done with the penguin logo of the "Nankyoku Challenge".
Next will be the text in the colourful gradient on the side of the snowcat.

The bluprint of the upper part is pretty much done and I will try a first test with 0,5mm polystyrene.
For the wheels I a plan to use parts of the Land-Wasser-Schlepper kit. I think I can also scratchbuild the lower part of the vehicle with PS, while the wide tracks are still a bit of a mystery.

Those are some nice pictures. The tracks look a lot different from your usual tank tracks.

I still wonder how to build them. They look like some kind of "rubber track" wich these metal attachmentes to increase grip. A bit of loss for correct terms here. 😄

I also uploaded a picture of the decals I made that will be used for this and other projects. Still need to get them printed...

Hmmm yeah, interesting. Those definitely are rubber tracks as well as rubber wheels. It looks like those rubber wheels are just running in neutral inbetween the rubber-track-belt. The actual torque comes from the cog in the back (or front? seen in the third link). I almost think you might have to scratch build those. 😄
