So, after some time away from the bensh let's start something new 🙂 After completing the whole wing assembly I can say this about ICM's brand new Yak-9T: great fit, lovely details, good engineering. So far a lovely kit to build 👍

Thank you Guy! 🙂
Slow to make any progress on this one. However it's certaibly not the kit's fault 😉

Mr James
Know how that feels. I've got an X-wing I cant bring myself to spray white. 🙂

Thanks James and Rui S! Your kind words might be just the motivation I needed 😉

Finally I found some time and the mojo to revisit this project 🙂 After closing up the fuselage and joining the the wing assembly to it, I can just say WOW! The fit is Tamiya-ish (zero fit issues - the ones that occurred were caused by myself) 👍

Thank you Juskifo 🙂 It is indeed a very nice kit. The only thing I would replace next time, is the instrument panel. The kit part is nice but the decals you have to use on it look a bit meh 😉

This morning I quickly build a new pitot tube from Albion Alloys brass tubing (....because I lost the kit part 😉 ) I find it looks a lot more convincing as well. The other thing I completed, was the landing gear. At first it seems very wobbly and fragile, but once you attache the main gear covers the whole assembly becomes way more solid. Kudos ICM, great engineering 👍

No, it is not OOB. Sadly, ICM did not re-create these two intakes in a convincing way. After the whole wing was assembled I opened the intakes and glued some generic PE mesh in from the inside. Not perfect, but at least not blank plastic 😉

After a little break to work on other projects, I got to prepare the Yak for priming and painting.

Thanks mate, much appreciated 👍 I'm honestly surprised how much progress I made over the last couple of days. Having said that, I started this build over a year ago ;-D
This is the first time I use AK Real Colours. I like the colours, even though I might lighten them a little bit next time around.

Slowly but surely the Yak is coming together 👍 I recently airbrushed the obligatory patriotic slogan and the tactical number, using Montex vinyl masks. The next step will be to repair some minor damage the masks did to the underlying paint job (....first time that happened to me, so I am a bit puzzled what went wrong). After than I will have to smoothen the surface a little bit, since I the paint job came out a bit "grainy" (I think I didn't thin the paint well enough). After that gloss coat and decals....so stay tuned 😉

With the 1:48 Thunderbolt done and dusted, I took my Yak-9 off the shelf of doom 🙂 my best work, but since I'm in a modelling mood these days, I try to put my current mojo to work 😉 I clear coated yesterday, started weathering the landing gear and just finished putting on the relatively few decals, that are actually used on this project. Let's hope I can keep up the pace 🤞

Not my best work by a long shot, but at least I half-assed this one across the finish line 😉 A really nice kit with great fit, nice details and easy construction, thanks to some solid engineering by ICM.
