YF-117A FSD "Scorpion"

Very poorly moulded plastic. Uneven thickness and very little detail. 

The top fuselage half has a crack across the rear with holes. Needed to be repaired.

Had to use sprue goo to fill the gaps so as to maintain flexibility of fuselage as it also had a slight bend.

Very poor cockpit detail and terrible fit. Lots of scrapping and filing. 

 

Very chunky bombs. 

Weighing down front. Not called up in Polish language instructions but does need quite a bit of weight to stop tail sitting. 

 

 

 

Canopy detail was not the best. Although it was reasonably clear. 

 

The plastic pitot tube and sensors are poorly moulded and very overscale. I cut them off and replace with brass tube and rod.

Big mistake!! I CA glued the bomb bay doors on the outside instead of the centre. the instructions were not clear on the position and I did not check my reference photos. I had to use CA as this plastic did not take well to the cement. 

Tail fins did not fit well and were very poorly moulded. Lots of filing and filling. 

 

 

 

Finally reached the priming step. 

 

 

Chunky wheels. 

Canopy did not fit well. Had to dod a lot of canopy and cockpit filing to get a reasonable but not great fit.

Went for the 3 camo scheme so needed to mask up. 

 

 

 

 

Not really happy with this one. 

 

 

 

Finally finished. Decals were a nightmare, they kept falling apart.
