Mark ... May I please ask which paints you used for the undercarriage and top? I have that exact model queued up for my next build in a couple of weeks. Would greatly appreciate your guidance on the under belly, top and nose/engine cone paints.

Hi Aman. Yes no problem, the paints are Vallejo Metalclour Burnt Iron, Aluminium Tamiya XF-1 on the engine cover and prop/spinner. Ammo/Mig Russian Blue AMT-7/A.MIG-251 under the fuselage. Colour call out on the Trumpy kit is for Mr Color H303 Light Green I used Tamiya Dark Green 2 as a base, lightened with either Tamiya Deck Tan, Black and Yellow for post shading. I used Ammo's Insignia white to lighten the blue. Tamiya X-19 was used as exhaust stain and to shade the panel lines on the Burnt Iron. After varnish, Flory washes applied allow to dry etc. Then went in with Windsor and Newton Oils Cobalt Blue Hue, Naples Yellow Hue and Flake White Hue to post shade panels, panel lines etc.

I'm sorry, you don't study photos of the original aircraft at all before building a model. I have probably tried 10 times to convey to my colleagues the features of the cockpit glazing in front of the pilot, there is no frame in the front part, you can see in my albums photos of the original. And the rest is very cool.

Alexander. Hi. As you may discern from the photographs, I did not paint the frame at the front that is the kit moulding. I would of sanded and polished out the frame to get that wraparound look, like a ZIL copy of a Chevy but I didn't as I did not want to risk cracking the front screen.

Oh. By the way, I scrutinized photos Nikita Nikulin threw my way pointing out there was no binding on the canopy. Thanks and kudos to im'

Mark, thank you for the feedback. That is great work! I am not near that level but will give it a go to learn based on the guidance.

You are more than welcome Aman. Mate I'm nowhere near the level I think I am 🤣 I came back to the hobby in 2017 in earnest in 2020 I'm still learning new techniques, experimenting and seeking help now and again. Remember if it looks like a duck, it's a duck. Mind you someone will be along shortly and tell you it's spelt D.U. K.W. Actually 🤣 As long as you are happy with it that's the main thing. Thank you all for the recent likes on this build too.

Trumpeter 1:48 Scale Mikoyan-Gurevich Mig 3. This was a build I really enjoyed. Anyone looking to build a Soviet era WW2 Fighter, I would recommend this kit. Paints used Mig Russian Blue, Grey Blue, Tamiya Dark Green 2 XF 89, Smoke X 19 and Vallejo Metal Colour Burnt Iron, Model Air Aluminium, Model Colour Black. Various coats of Tamiya Semi Gloss Clear X 35 and jipped with Flat Clear XF 86 to mute the final coat a bit. Took a bit of licence with the oils but I like the end result. I finally got a Soviet WW2 Fighter finished after the attempts with Eduard and Zvezda.
