good luck with this one. nice little aircraft. Just hope to find some time to get along with this one... Will you build it painted or in bare copper?

Looks great Mike. The wood effect is fantastic! Is this going to be featured in a magazine build article?

Cheers Gordon. The full build article was in the August 2014 issue of 'Airfix Model World'.

This looks absolutely stunning! 😄 May I ask what kind of faux wood finish you used? 🙂

Thanks Camilla! The 'wood' areas were airbrushed pale cream, then a coarse brush loaded with brown oil paint was streaked across it several times until the 'grain' looked OK. It was easier to do than describe...

Did you ever consider using the wood grain decals from Uschi. ?
But then again, now I have seen your work, you would never need them. 🙂

@Kerry, I think trying to fit decals on all those intricate little shapes would be more trouble than it's worth. Painting the grain was actually fairly quick and enjoyable.

@Kerry: I tried these decals on mine, and I agree with Mike in that I prefer the painting with oil-paint. On this small scale the dots of the printing seem too large to be ok...
