Dmitriy AutorJohn, I haven't gotten my hands on Tamiya's P-47, but I've done other Tamiya aircraft in 1:48 scale and I would say that their engineering is still unbeaten. The detail on the MiniArt kits is I think the pinnacle of what is possible with injection molding, but in some aspects the kit is over engineered and unnecessarily complex.

MoaskeÌ usually do it because unpainted plastic fuses best to have a really sturdy undercarriage .... but indeed, not every build alows it 🙂

Paul MooreAwesome looking Intruder and the photo work is striking! Congratulations. I flew the A-6E TRAM and my last cruise the SWIP version. Only a true Intruder geek would probably know this, but the A-6 version you've chosen did not have the capability to carry HARM missiles. That didn't come until the SWIP version in about 1989. We didn't get SWIP birds till 1992 (VA-155). But the model and photo are first class.

gorbySometimes the camera orientation code overrides the display orientation.
If you go to 'Manage' and then 'Advanced options' you can change the orientation of your photos. No need to delete.

Spanjaardi think that Philip is talking about profile picture, not picture in Albums, so "manage" and "advanced options" will not work this time....
the issue probably is with the EXIF data stored in the original picture. I would suggest to use some photo editing program to rotate and export the picture , so all the EXIF data is not included, and that may resolve the issue

John MulhallNice work with your airbrush and the PE Kevin. Really like your wing root chipping. I am about to use a Techmod decal sheet on another RAF P-51 decal sheet, how did they work for you. Did you mix Techmod and Tamiya decals?

Kevin S AutorAs far as the decal themselves, they were very good. I did notice a bit of silvering I didn't catch on the clear carrier film around the stencils, but that could have been user error as much as anything else. Other than that, they were a dream. I did have a bit of an oddity in that my set didn't come with the instruction sheet for the placement of the stencils, so I was able to dig up a digital version of them. That sheet had some misnumberings (the main markings were all correctly numbered). And this one was 100% Techmod decals, as this boxing was a P-51B and, in any event, I try to avoid Tamiya decals like the plague where I can. 😄

Rainer AutorThank you all. This build was an emotional rollercoaster. I was impressed by the details of this kit, but annoyed by the complicated engineering. Building the landing gear was no fun at all, to be honest. The raw paint job was really good in my eyes, but I completely ruined it with the gloss coat. I was about to throw it away. After a lot of touch ups and a matte coat my confidence came back, and in the end I am really quite happy with the result.
The weathering was pretty simple, just black and brown oil paint. Less was more in this case, I guess.

Rainer AutorNow that I completed the second kit, I can say that the Arma Hobby kit might be more expensive, but it is clearly the better one. More challenging and more rewarding, with superior details and finer molding. Definitely worth the higher price.

FlyingFish2Things to note, BMP suspension is asymmetrical so track part C8 needs to alternate from rear sprocket end and front idler end, so you need to dry fit this. Important, for step 23, i think mud guards are swapped, so I think A24 goes on right, but look at pictures first and dry fit.
Biggest upset was the log covers the corner weld detail, so you need to put the log on unless you want to model weld line with putty. my kit had gunners thermal top searchlight snapped off, otherwise it had great detail
