This is the real truck we saw on vacation.
![Album image #2 Album image #2](/albums/img/4/5/9/1609459-100252-95-720.png)
This is the kit I'm modding to match it.
![Album image #3 Album image #3](/albums/img/7/0/5/1618705-100252-17-720.jpg)
I'm definitely used to starting from something a little bigger than this!
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/7/0/6/1618706-100252-61-720.jpg)
30 microscopic pieces later...
![Album image #5 Album image #5](/albums/img/7/0/7/1618707-100252-60-720.jpg)
40 microscopic pieces later, and some paint, and the chassis is basically done!
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/7/0/8/1618708-100252-55-720.jpg)
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/0/3/5/1631035-100252-99-720.jpg)
All that work on the chassis, just so I could find out the wheelbase was too long 🙁
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/0/3/6/1631036-100252-59-720.jpg)
Shortened the chassis and the base of the truck bed
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/0/3/8/1631038-100252-16-720.jpg)
getting the cab together
![Album image #10 Album image #10](/albums/img/0/3/7/1631037-100252-84-720.jpg)
scabbing in some scrap to create the little bump-outs on the hood
![Album image #11 Album image #11](/albums/img/9/1/5/1633915-100252-51-720.jpg)
Cutting down the ambulance rear end to create the little workbed on this guy
![Album image #12 Album image #12](/albums/img/9/1/6/1633916-100252-24-720.jpg)
cut down, and first pieces painted green!
![Album image #13 Album image #13](/albums/img/9/1/7/1633917-100252-44-720.jpg)
gotta put some tiny trim around the edges, I think.
![Album image #14 Album image #14](/albums/img/9/1/8/1633918-100252-16-720.jpg)
The instructions offered no help at all for how to keep all this stuff aligned during assembly. So I've looked these pieces over a million times now, and I think I'll do it like this –>
![Album image #15 Album image #15](/albums/img/9/1/9/1633919-100252-84-720.jpg)
rear wall
![Album image #16 Album image #16](/albums/img/9/2/1/1633921-100252-93-720.jpg)
dash
![Album image #17 Album image #17](/albums/img/9/2/0/1633920-100252-10-720.jpg)
fenders and doors
![Album image #18 Album image #18](/albums/img/9/2/2/1633922-100252-20-720.jpg)
grill. Now I gotta keep this thing banded together.
![Album image #19 Album image #19](/albums/img/9/2/3/1633923-100252-26-720.jpg)
hood
![Album image #20 Album image #20](/albums/img/9/2/4/1633924-100252-35-720.jpg)
roof and windshield. Everything fits!
![Album image #21 Album image #21](/albums/img/9/2/5/1633925-100252-34-720.jpg)
![Album image #22 Album image #22](/albums/img/6/8/0/1667680-100252-89-720.jpg)
After some setbacks, including a major paint spill, I'm back at this lil guy. I had that whole rear end together and trimmed out... and it was too wide. 🙁 So I tore it all apart, shaved it down, and rebuilt the walls from scratch with strips of superglue-infused cardboard instead of the previous plastic.

![Album image #25 Album image #25](/albums/img/6/8/3/1667683-100252-60-720.jpg)
Main parts are all together and looking pretty good. Just a few details left to hopefully tighten it up! 🙂
![Album image #26 Album image #26](/albums/img/0/9/3/1671093-100252-23-720.jpg)
All done!

![Album image #28 Album image #28](/albums/img/0/9/6/1671096-100252-75-720.jpg)
The rock in the back is the rock under the trailer wheel in the photo of the real truck. I assume they take it with them wherever they go. 🙂
![Album image #29 Album image #29](/albums/img/0/9/7/1671097-100252-40-720.jpg)
Scratch-built the exhaust pipe from a piece of sprue! 🙂
![Album image #30 Album image #30](/albums/img/0/9/2/1671092-100252-32-720.jpg)
The bracket under the bumper ain't perfect, but it gets the vibe right

it doesn't look better this close up, but I like the little lights on the rear end 🙂

coming along nicely. Pitty that you found out about the wheelbase the hard way. Good work so far.

Yeah, I guess I coulda fixed it right from the very first step if I'd'a thought that far ahead. Oh well, no regrets!

I like all the mods you did. Turned out fine. The civil attire and the short wheel base suits it well. I put my ACE kit aside after a few pieces as it is nothing for a quick side build. Nice to see yours finished.

I usually build planes, but I've worked also on trucks: I really like this and your mods are superb!

Aw, thanks everyone! Yeah, Michael, this was not an easy little side build, for sure!

Modding a tiny Unimog ambulance kit to match this awesome truck we saw parked on a mountain road in Greece last year. I would've preferred it in 1:24, so hopefully my hands will be steady enough to do a decent job of it. ?
