Album info
A kitbash of the old Esci Merkava I with parts of the newer Revell Merkava III, mainly the wheels & tracks, but also some detail parts like machine guns, tracklinks etc. I still had to do surgery to two Esci roadwheels because Merk III has a different first roadwheel to stand up better to heavy use.
Looking back, I could probably have gotten away with using the Esci kit's sideskirts, but I wanted to show the suspension, and the Merk I is the only one where you can find images with the sideskirts off.
Paint is Tamiya XF-20 : XF-49 (2:1) to match the 1980 Sinai Grey colour. Some dark brown/black pinwashes have been added, some drybrushing with a lighter colour mix, and some dirtying up with sandy pigments. The turret number cloths are decals from the Revell kit on painted aluminium foil; the chain in front is from a shipbuilding supplier. The figure is from Black Dog.
