Building the Kombrig HMS Duncan

At first I glue screws into the bottom of the hull and drill corresponding holes into the base of the display box. 

Then I mist grey primer over the mounted hull to mark its perimeter 

Now any wave effects can bge sculpted using a putty of choice. 

Making sure the hull still fits. This is followed by stippling white wall paint and spraying green and blue to achieve the illusion of a seascape. 

Now additional white effects can be stippled on using a piece of sponge. 

After ample drying time, a good gloss coat is added. 

Final foam effects are added using white oil paint. 

Now the hull is mounted on the vise for the building process. 

The masts are redone in brass for better stability 

I redid both bridges to make the "canvas-covered" railings. 

These supports are needed for the torpedo net shelves. 

The shelves are sourced, like all PE in this project, from my stash of WEM PE sets. 

The Kombrig boats are excellent little items. 

The Victorian livery needed a lot of masking, but it was worth the effort. 

The boat deck and the funnels have been added. 

For the rigging, 0.06 mm Modelkasten wire was used. Very handy.

I always build from the centre to the periphery to minimize the risk of collateral damage. Hence the start on the boat deck and bridges. 

Rigging the model and nearing completion. The big screw will be used to hold the model when it is transferred from the building vise to its base.
