Academy B-17D Flying Fortress "Swoose"

I want to build a B-17D as the Mary-Ann from the movie Air Force.
I had bought this kit a few months ago on ebay. The price was good, but when I got it there were no decals. So the seller gave me a partial refund. OK
Well come to find out Italeri has a 2011 re-issue of the same Academy kit boxed as Mk.I w/decals for 7 aircraft, one being the Mary-Ann. So I inquired to Italeri if the decal sheet was available to purchase. Yes it was for $10.xx shipped. GREAT.
Well it took them a month to get here, and when I opened the envelope the decal sheet was stuck to the cardboard !! I was just fried! OOOH, I just don't understand what these kit makers don't understand about packaging.
To top it off the sheet was scotch taped to the cardboard !!!! An Absolute NO NO. You don't use scotch tape on a decal sheet !!
Well I haven't gotton back with them yet, but I will inform them of it tomorrow, we'll see what happens.
The decals themselves are not ruined, and should be useable, it's just the whole idea of the thing.
After all these years they still don't get it. !!!! I'm just beside myself in disbelief !!!! WTF

It will be a while yet Lukasz. I'm not quite ready for the "better" kits, gettin' close though. This is pretty nice for an inexpensive kit. I also have the Academy 17F Memphis Bell that is basically the same kit. Also have the new Airfix G kit, so 3 B-17s to look forward too!
I had to post this album so that I could show the decals. Don't worry I'll be posting everything I build as I go along and I'll get to this one sooner or later (more 'n likely later). lol
I have 2 car kits & 1 aircraft currently "Under Construction". It's been too cold & damp to paint right now so I'm getting a few "prepped" and will also be cutting pieces for more garage levels while I wait for the weather to change a bit. It will be a few more weeks at least before I'll want to be painting again. Not so much the cold but we've been getting a lot of rain this year and it's pretty damp.

So, I did send an email to Italeri w/pics of the decal damage the other day.
I get back this response today:
"we are sorry but probably the decal took moisture during the shipping, but as we can see the decal is usable, it is spoiled only the support".
So I guess that means Italeri customer service sucks. They should be more than willing to send me a replacement sheet w/better packaging so that I can have a nice "clean" sheet of decals.
What if I wanted to turn around and sell this kit w/those decals, who's gonna believe those decals are good from the pics? Customer service sucks these days !!
BLAH !! I suppose I should be happy I even got them in the first place, but that's beside the point!
