This was originally a Monogram P-51B kit! I cut down the rear fuselage and used balsa wood to fair it in. Notice only two wing guns per side!

I tried to make a canopy but never finished it. At the time there was no good P-51D kit on the market. That's why I tried to build my own!

This was a Frog Hurricane IIc which I tried to make a Hurricane Prototype out of. I used aluminum foil on the front part, but some of it fell off. I carved the prop myself from hard balsa wood.

The serial numbers were made by LetraSet! They had a big variety of model transfers. I still have some of them! They were rub-ons, not water transfers.

There is a famous photograph taken in 1918 of that huge bomb, which inspired Airfix to produce the O/400 kit. The crew had painted the message on it for the picture.

Really beat-up Frog P-40. Those decals faded well! The Tomahawk really looked the part with the teeth on the nose!

thanks for sharing, some niece pieces there. but you forgot to use the decal solutions man... kidding of course, the fact that some of those decals, are NOT yellow after all this time does really say something about the quality. and the fact that the rigging of picture 74 is still there, says a lot about your modelling skills even then. well done, and again, thanks for sharing Norm

Time travellers for sure! Amazingly, quite a few of those moulds survived into the 2000's! Boy, we sure had very little to work with back then. But it was my passion to build models, I guess you can see that! As for the decals, they were much thicker than most present day stuff, and I used to press them down hard with paper towel to make them conform! Thanks for the compliments, Spanjaard.

Yep, I guess ignorance indeed was bliss. I have tried on numerous occasions to just do a "quick enjoyable build", only to be mired in research and elusive attempt at modeling perfection. One of these days, I will do it...(i.e a "pure enjoyment" build).
