Here's an interesting bit of info I'm reading from the instruction sheet:

"Painting the US M4A3E8 Sherman Easy Eight US Army vehicles in WWII were generally painted in overall Olive Drab, although the shade varied slightly according to the location and date of manufacture. While the basic shade of Olive Drab had a brown tint, vehicles at the end of the conflict displayed a green tone. Some vehicles had winter camouflage applied in water based white paint over the original scheme."
Interesting!

That makes total sense. Why wouldn't you paint winter camouflage in water based paint. It's not like it rains much in winter

After buying this one I've seen the Italeri "Fury" kit going for about the same price. The Italeri has a lot of extra "stowage" that the Tamiya doesn't. But after looking at the video reviews on YouTube, I think the Tamiya has much nicer detail, and has a figure too. I was even thinking about buying the Italeri just for the extra "stuff", but for the $$ I could just get another different tank kit instead !
This one is really very highly detailed

Wilky,
Yes, it does make sense.
I just thought it was interesting about the Olive Drab being different shades depending on location and date of manufacture. As there was a discussion recently about the color of OD. Brown or Green, it's pretty much a free for all IMHO!!

I have the same kit and won't be starting it anytime soon. In the middle of moving and have a stack of models awaiting bench time. Too many choices, not enough hours. I haven't touched sprue since November. Arrrgghhhhh Withdrawal symptoms kicking in.

Album info

From Wikipedia:
The M4 Sherman, officially Medium Tank, M4, was the most numerous battle tank used by the United States and some of the other Western Allies in World War II. The M4 Sherman proved to be reliable, relatively cheap to produce and available in great numbers. Thousands were distributed through the Lend-Lease program to the British Commonwealth and Soviet Union. The tank was named by the British for the American Civil War General William Tecumseh Sherman.
The designers stressed mechanical reliability, ease of production and maintenance, durability, standardization of parts and ammunition in a limited number of variants, and moderate size and weight. These factors, combined with the Sherman's then-superior armor and armament, outclassed German light and medium tanks fielded in 1939–42. The M4 went on to be produced in large numbers. It spearheaded many offensives by the Western Allies after 1942.
After World War II, the Sherman, particularly the many improved and upgraded versions, continued to see
