Very beautiful Mike. Nice "Kuifje" (as Tin Tin is called here) aircraft! 👍

Thanks guys, this was a fun project and something different from the norm. It was also nice to depict it in flight, and not have to paint prop blades or assemble the undercarriage 🙂

Wow, excellent work on what is just my kind of subject ! Great looking modulation of colours, which make it not look overdone like you see with the models they sell on the official Tintin webshop. I needed several looks to,realize that you put your model in the comic ! Great idea !

good work but super crisp photography, all of it is in focus !!
are you using a fancy multi photo focus path or something to get the near and far in focus ?

Thank you again for the kind comments.
@Choppa. It's just a standard Canon 100mm telephoto lens stopped down to f32 in most cases, a couple of flash heads and a smallish light tent. I've heard of focus stacking but not tried it: most of my stuff is 1/72 and fairly small, so DOF isn't usually a problem.

Mike, Bravo! What a delightful subject, and excellently executed. Great job! And from one of my favorite comic book subjects (Although, I knew him as Kuijfe). R/ Dutch

I never get tired of looking at this one... or pretty much of any of Mike Grant's work. I'm building a Ki-10 from the Tintin adventure "The Blue Lotus" and I've been studying Mike's superb 1/48 version to try and emulate it.

Seven years later... and I haven't even come close to doing a Tintin model as well as Mike's...

Thanks guys! Greg, you are far too modest, I am in awe of your Tintin project. I hope you don't mind if I borrow your searchlight idea when. I build my Bordurian 109…

Album info
I'm a big fan of Hergé's Tintin books having grown up reading them, and for a while have been planning to build some of the aircraft from the books. This is the first, Skut's Mosquito from 'The Red Sea Sharks'. Skut is a mercenary pilot flying the Mossies for the Khemedi AF, and wears an eye patch which I painstakingly painted on a 1/72 pilot figure. Markings are a mixture of Blue Rider and my own home-printed markings.
