HYGOG
You know what they say about robots with big feet...
Some drilling and a PE fin (I knew I'd need those!) to just add a little something something.
Holy seam lines Batman, the fit of this kit is not exactly up to Bandai's *current* quality standards.
Someone must have started this kit, because that shoulder piece was off the runners and pretty mangled. I could have filled the damage, but this seemed like a good time to add a "racing stripe" detail to just cover the area. Cheating? No. Efficiency!
I think the stripes and the PE details are elevating this big blue boy bit by bit.
I think this completes the build! There are some pontoons (or something?) that may be able to go under the shoulders, but other than THAT it's basically done. No huge seam lines on those luckily.
Here he is all broken down into sub assemblies for painting. The yellow paint is for details that will later be masked. I want to try some tonal variations by mixing in neutral grey to the purple.
Yellow details that I'll have to mask now...
Black then purple for the torso. I’ll undercoat some with grey and not at all for others to vary the paint scheme.
Here you can see the three purples... just different enough.
Needs a bit of touch up.
I like the color variations... I think it’s working out nicely.
Matte coat.
Backside.
Beginnings of the beach, complete with jetty!
Possible pose
Masked for rock painting.
THIS is the pose! Fingers in the water means cool wakes and splashes!
I'm opening a water park.
I did the pour!
This guy's going to make a serious splash.
Don't you hate it when you get sand in your giant robo-toes?
In the home stretch now... a bit more pigment and then some matte (except on the water).
