MiG-15bis Open Engine (WIP)
Glueing PE parts with Ammo Ultra Glue (basically PVA glue)
Cockpit ready for wash
Cutting the avionics compartment for the RES-IM part
Avionics compartment cut
Small PE parts from Eduard glued; ejector pin hole not a problem
Separating the avionics from the casting block
Fuselage closed
Fuselage cut
Advancing the front section
Restarting the engine after a... small accident with the first one, which I broke trying to straighten up
Opening registers on the halves of a newly acquired MiG-15bis box
Installed the airbrake wells
Trials with PVC tubes for the tail - diameter should be larger than the exhaust of the Aires engine but small enough to fit the closed fuselage... 🙁
Internal wiring in the wheel wells, from Eduard set
Engine going up...
Internal structure of the tail being added as per documentation found
Reducing the thickness of the electrical PVC tube
Building the separation wall
Building the register internal frames
Ready to file
...screw plates reduced
Plare in the middle of the tail section ready
More work
Inner structure glued in place
Ready to close
Closing
The little tail cart is finished, used Tamiya's 1:48 kit as guide
Primer applied - seams everywhere! 🙁
This primer is really smooth - I thinned it with Gunze's Leveling Thinner
After sanding, sprayed the very powerful AK primer to erase the remaining seams
First layer of AK Xtreme Aluminiumrevealed to be not very shiny, so I gave it a light sand
Some work on the Eduard PE set
Starting to paint the wood
Highlighting some panels with AK Polished Aluminium (AK 481)
Ghost seams! 🙁
Correction made, with AK 480 Dark Aluminium
More Dark Aluminium
Flap areas painted with Matte Aluminium (AK 488) for additional color variation
All metallic colors used so far - variation may be a little soft, but I don't want to over do it; additionally will use Steel for the airbrakes
Blue for the tip of the tail
Painting the wheel wells
Painting the avionics bay
Preparing the maintenance ladder
Cart painted, still some chipping to do
Applying panel line wash from Ammo (A.MIG-1617) PLW Blue Black
Airbrakes time
Glueing the base engine...
...very difficult to hold in place and it insists in getting skewd down
Jig for the exhaust
The Aires set does not have two of the supports - added these with Albion Alloys tube, it really helps giving strengh to the supports
Paiting the supports
A touch of rust using Light Rust Wash (A.MIG-1004)
Cabling added as per references with copper wire of 0,2 and 0,3mm
Engine done, only remaing to glue the exhaust
Improving the walk ways
Light airbrush of diluted gray (XF-54) followed by AK Ultra Matte varnish on the walk ways
Aligning the engine
Wheels up
Wheels are extremely difficult to align in this kit
Front fuselage is finished - now for the vignette...

Preparing the layout of the base
Made some pavement squares from 1000 grit sandpaper glued with CA to a thin Evergreen styrene sheet; after that the squares were glued to the wood base with contact glue
Pavement tiles glued and flexible tape applied around it to prevent damage to the base
Testing the layout
A small suggested wooden box (made from plasticard) is covered by aluminium foil and three wooden planks (also from Evergreen plasticard)
Prop covered with AK Grey Primer
Several base colors applied
Change of colors, I feel the Tamiya work better, because they are more matt
Final toning down with Tamiya XF-53 and base earth painted with two brown Vallejo tones
Tarp and wooden planks ready
Tarp and wooden planks ready - also used the Ammo A.MIG 7112 “Tools Colors” set
Painting the CMK figure; using Vallejo 70.904 for pants, 70.940 for jacket and helmet, 70.871 for shoes and AK 3010 set for flesh
Adding grass

Today I accidentally deleted this album... I mean, the original one. Had to rebuild it, from a cached copy in my iPhone. For all the mates that had commented on the album, sorry for this.

Thanks. The kit is beautifully detailed, which make it difficult to preserve all the tiny rivets, specially where you have to sand. Also the nose is a difficult part to fit. And, of course, the Aires engine is a nightmare! 😄

This is fantastic. As a former aircraft engineer, I really appreciate seeing a kit built this way.
