F-15I Ra'am (WIP)
Lovely detail to be filed to make room for the Eduard PE
Details removed 🙁

More detail to be removed
Cockpit tub almost ready for first paint
Eduard PE applied to the front wheel well
White applied using the AK White Primer
NATO black (XF-69) applied to the cockpit and seats
Moving forward, this kit does require some space on the bench
Cockpit closed
Cockpit closed
Weights added to the front
Squeeeezeeee!!!
Intakes glued in place
The canon inside does not allow the fuselage to close here
Intakes glued in place
A lot of force is needed with clamps, pegs and fingers where no other solution works :/
The canopy has a central seam that needs removing
Sanding and polishing
Seams removed
Clear parts masked
Taking form...
Slow progress
I wonder why GWH feels the need to mix raised panel lines tanks with slide moulding missiles!?!?!?
The more I touch this, the worse it gets... 🙁
Glued a thin plasticard piece on top of the joint; cheating? maybe! 🙂
Plenty of loadout
Two parts final of the exhaust - sprayed some AK Xtreme Metal Jet Exhaust (AK 486) on the face and on the bottom of the parts, because they looked excessively clean
Finishing the exhaust interiors
Playing with the Hataka set I have selected to paint the F-15
Well, after much thought...
...I decided to close this avionics bay as well. :/
Starting with the green
Green applied - very little contrast between the sand (C090 Sand FS33531) and the green (C234 Sky Grey-Green FS34424)
FS36320 (Hataka C035 Dark Ghost Grey) applied
Fit of the intakes is very poor
AK 471 Black Base applied on the exhausts
Exhausts finished after application of aluminium (AK 479) followed by some shades (AK 480 Dark Aluminium, AK 482 Duraluminium and AK 671 Metallic Smoke)
Exhausts finished after application of aluminium (AK 479) followed by some shades (AK 480 Dark Aluminium, AK 482 Duraluminium and AK 671 Metallic Smoke)
Test fitting the exhausts and horizontal stabilizers, getting ready for varnish and decals
Small anthena in front of the windshield added
The Hataka green is too faded, reinforcing with Gunze H74 (Sky)
Varnished with Tamiya X-22, ready for decals
Varnished with Tamiya X-22, ready for decals
Decided to weather it a bit, with Ammo oils (A.MIG 3512 Dark Brown, A.MIG 3532 Starship Bay Sludge and A.MIG 3518 Sunny Flesh)
Bombs and missiles painted
The decals are a bit on the thick side and a few of them silvered
Applying washes with Tamiya Panel Line Accent Color Brown (on top) and Gray (below)
Painting, varnishing, decaling and weathering the stuff that hangs
Decalling missiles and bombs - somehow the X-22 varnish attacked the Gunze C309 paint.........
Ready for washes
Very poor fit on the frontal wheel well door - acrylic putty to the rescue!
The interior Pythom missiles don't fit - had to cut the upper fins 🙁 (no one sees)
Almost finished
Finished!

Thanks mates; @Paulo, the F-16 is waiting for a resin exhaust and seat and masks that I ordered last week...

Thanks Roland; moving forward fast, despite the fact that this is a huge kit on the bench

Closing the front now - Eduard PE does not help fit, but it isn't that bad so far

Thank you Jos - this will take some time, the fit isn't stellar, but it'll get there! 🙂

Coming on board! I want to build this very same model in the next 5 years 🙂 so watching closely! The Eduard stuff seem to provide a lot of good, obviously cockpit, but also the gearwell material appears rather useful. Only thing I pity is the Ra'am engines have external petals on... I'd really like to build the "naked" nozzles...
Great job so far, beautiful pit, bird seems to be coming together nicely, looking forward to the camo! 👍

Thank you Slavo - still smoothing out some nasty gaps in the tips of the tails and near the machine gun; other than than, I'll start painting soon; will probably replace the nozzles with resin, because these lack some detail and finesse on the inside

Very nice progress, looking forward to the cool IAF camo 👍
Afaik certain panel joints are raised on the real tanks - so it's a feature, not a bug 🙂

Thank you Daniel. Regarding the raised panel lines on the fuel tanks, it does pose a problem when sanding the joints (and they'll have to be sanded because of the peculiar way the sprue gates are made in this model)

Thanks Clifford, inching my way forward, while progressing the Revell Shackleton at the same time... 🙂

Finally finished - had to rush the end, because I needed it ready for a local exibition; final photos in the same project, here: F-15I Ra'am | Album by RReis (1:48)
