Koolhoven FK58-C.1 Widoczność: Pokaz slajdów Mozaika Lista 1 March 3, 2021
Azur kit well priced and comes with resin wheels and engine.

The cockpit is pretty sparsely detailed and reading up, entirely inaccurate structure on the side walls too.

Jus doing the basics inside. Added the seat pad with a bit of offcut leather from the wife’s sewing stash.
4 March 3, 2021
Issues with the top seam, lots of filler.
5 March 3, 2021
Canopy nestled in situ but the width of the tub walls and rear too thick. I’m not brave enough to sand these down yet.
6 March 3, 2021
Lost the resin scoop to the carpet monster. Improvised with some Vallejo plastic putty.
7 March 3, 2021
More filler. Some basic PE work with the supplied harnesses. A common issue here is that the frame behind the seat doesn’t attach to anything so had to glue it to the seat. Guess someone more experience will have scratched up a better fitting version.
8 March 3, 2021
Black based using AK primer and micro filler. Tried marbling for the first time using Gris Bleau Clair and very light khaki and green.
9 March 3, 2021
Gris Bleau Fonce base coat and free hand camo. Not sure if my airbrushing skills are good enough yet to freehand anything really 🙂
10 March 3, 2021
Underside black based and touched with Gris Bleau Fonce before applying GB Clair. Still a lot to learn on the marbling front.
11 March 3, 2021
Most of the PE attached and added Master barrels to replace the straight sticks that come with the kit.
12 13 March 3, 2021
Probably the best bit of the kit are the gorgeously detailed wheels that come with it. Forgive the splayed gun barrels. Correction required.

Canopy masks off and really happy with the outcomes. Maybe a polish later.
15 March 7, 2021
Disaster! Don’t know what was on my finger but I melted right through to the plastic.
16 March 7, 2021
Halfords primer filler in the hope of a rescue.
17 March 7, 2021
A reasonable recovery. Not brilliant.

Album info I was torn between a Bloch 152 or this FK58 for the next step in my Zumbach journey. They are similar looking aircraft but as this one seemed the more unusual I tracked down this Azur kit and went for it. Also, my source material seems to confirm Zumbach definitely flew this, whereas there seems to be some debate about him flying Blochs.
