Looks pretty good to me...even sideways 🙂
I recently got into the hobby again and put together a workspace. I built an interim cardboard spray booth with no frills other than a clip-on LED. The whole thing is a little pathetic, but I'm just starting out and need to learn the ropes. I have not considered a fan or ventilation and now I am starting to get concerned; I see a lot of people have them. I'm only working with acrylic and not often either because I like brushes, so I figured ventilation isn't a big deal. My workspace is in a large open basement area with a return air and fresh air intake so build up of fumes isn't a concern either and I wear a mask. Is there anything I have over looked that would suggest I should go the fan route?
Cheers!

if you only use acrylics, with brush, and have good ventilation, i think you are totally fun
when you use things like Alclad, with airbrush... so better get at least a good mask (a real one, no the kind you wil use with Covid). that is why i am thinking on getting a paint booth

Just my 5 cents: Having an exhaust booth is a must for anyone spraying model paint indoors IMHO, regardless of what kind of paint you spray. There is NO safe paint, acrylic or otherwise. Wearing a mask is always a very sensible idea, but I wonder what happens to all that overspray in a closed room.

Since my comment last March I have purchased a small spray booth and a Honeywell mask with organic vapour filters. I feel a Lorre safer now spraying various substances. The booth is portable so I can bring to upstairs to a window but I plan to keep it in the basement and build a proper filtration unit for it with activated carbon and filters so I don't have to bring it upstairs. If it works well I Amy build a larger spray booth because the portable one is pretty small and cramped. I'm hoping for more space to do larger scale kits and yes…thinker plywood would be better ?

With enough exhaust you can probably forgo the mask. The key is if you ask your wife if she can smell paint in a nearby room.

@Donny Abston...thanks for the pic. Looks pretty good. My problem is that my workspace is in the mechanical room of a basement. No windows but over 75m2 (~800 sq ft) of space and it's where the fresh air intake is located. So I have no problem getting good air in; it's getting bad air out that's the issue. I thought of going through the floor but there is the wife factor to worry about. So, I'm going to try building a filter (starshipmodeler.com/tech/pa_booth.htm). I'm not very handy, so we will see how it goes. @Bill Newcomer thanks for the pointer; I will use the wife sniff test to see if the filter I build works.

Ya your booth does sort of look like [img1]
I'm hoping the indoor filter will work. Looks easy enough for me to build [img1]

I think what you have is quite a good start. Here is the one I overbuilt that is still "portable" with plenty of light, variable speed and no air restriction.

I built myself a cheap home made sprayboth
Uesing a rangehood whed a 2 speed fan
And got some 16mm melamine from the hardware
Uesing geo fabric as a filter
Just to use a sprayboth I find is not all
I will be building a dying cabinet plumed in to my existing
Rangehood sprayboth
Whed a sealed door
On both
Paint releases fumes for days
And so will the overspray in the both
