Unusual model. Following!
Do you have any plan to correct the yellowish vacum?

Moreno Baruffini
Thank you Cuajete! I'm thinking about the canopy..."Plan A" is to replicate them with a vacuum machine...."Plan B" is to search for some sort of aftermarket...

Great start, I love this airplane. I have a similar canopy conundrum with another kit. I wonder if some sort of UV treatment may fix it.

Moreno Baruffini
You are right! A UV treatment could work. I'll try it!
Thanks for your appreciation!

Let us know if you have any luck. It may be as simple as exposing it to sunlight (without melting it 😉 )

Dear Alex, I browsed a bit and I found that maybe the solution is UV, but with "Retr0bright" 😉 I'll keep you updated

Nice start, Moreno 👍

A few years ago I did a test with a piece of yellowish blister into in a small zip bag with peroxide and exposed directly to sunlight (in a window) for days or weeks.

At first it seemed to work, because it gradually became clearer and transparent. But after a few days the blister piece started to turn yellow again (still into the zip bag). I have not tried this or other methods again, but I would also like to find one that really works.

I wanted to do the test with a piece of blister with another type of yellowish acetate so as not to take risks with the original vacuum.

Alec and Moreno, I hope it works better for you.

Interesting, thanks for the info Cuajete 👍

Thank you Cuajete!
A possible solution could be to seal the piece with Future or similar...I read some posts from some Italian modellers and it should work. Need more testing anyway!

Moreno, Interesting... I would like to know if that technique works.

Dear all, while I'm trying to find time to test the Retrobright solution, the fuselage boat is almost ready to be closed...This is my "Zen" model, so I work on it when I just feel "Zen" 🙂

Retrobright?? I was unaware of that product. Please, report the result 🙂
Happy holidays and New Year!

In the last weeks I was quite "Zen" 🙂 so here we are with an update.

I'm also testing the Retrobright, seems to work! 🙂

I do like your Zen approach! 😄 Following, of course...

Glad to see your mojo is back. Never heard of "retrobrighting", curious how well it works on clear parts.

Moreno Baruffini
Working very slowly, here's an update 🙂. The alignments are not perfect, it takes a lot of patience, it will need lots of putty, however it is a job that gives satisfaction!

Indeed. How did the Retrobright technique work on the canopy? Or should I not ask 🫣
18 June 2022, 23:08
Moreno Baruffini
Thanks mates!

@Alec: I tried once and seems that the canopy lost some yellowish...For me should be ok 🙂
I'll take a picture today 👍🏻

You can also send an e-mail to the producer to change the yellowed transparencies. I made it some years ago.
19 June 2022, 07:38
Moreno Baruffini
Dear Curatorm, thank you very much for the advice! Since I'm quite satisfied with the first tentative, for the moment I'll keep the original transparents. Let's see when the model will be ready...

Btw: how can I add pictures to a comment like this?

Looking good Moreno. 👍

Moreno, I'm glad to read that Retrobright did its job. Just watch that it doesn't turn yellowish again over time.

To add a pic, simply add it to the photoalbum. We will see her there 😉

Azur is not for the faint of heart, but you chose a beautiful subject and I like how you proceed. Keep us updated.

Thanks again mates!
Yes, Azur are not easy, but are beautiful subjects!

@ Cuajete, I'll add a picture to the album then!

Working, very carefully, on wings and floats...Short run kits need many attention and putty 🙂

Good hard-job, Moreno!! 👍

I finished this one as well and I feel your pain with the kit. One thing I noticed: The connector rods between the fuselage and the under wing floats were too short in my kit. I couldn´t find a better solution than build new ones from platic rods. With the original parts used the floats would sit too close to the fuselage and the other connectors (between wing and float/ wing and fuselage) would not align as well. Best of luck with this beauty 👍

Bad news from your side Stephan...Thanks for the advice, I'll make more tests!
BTW: I really like your model! Great job!

Thanks. The spectacular scene was needed to distract from imperfections 😛

Great job on the interior, Moreno! Interesting looking aircraft.
I had a couple older Aeroclub canopies that had yellowed. To try and remove the yellowing, I placed them in Hydrogen Peroxide. It took over a month, but they are clear again.

Moreno Baruffini
Many thanks Gordon, yes, the Hydrogen peroxide works quite well !

Cuajete
I tried it with hydrogen peroxide and exposed to the sun for several weeks and it seemed to work until some time later the transparent part turned yellow again.

Awesome interior 👍 . Not alot of it will be visible if you use the original clear parts though. I see this "fitting" and reminds me of the struggle. Dont toss it 😉 ! The plane will look great in the end.

sittin in! How did I miss this floatplane? its in the stash and on the to do list....

sweet job so far...

THANKS, mates! For the moment, no fresh updates, I can work on it during the weekends 😉

@Cuajete, see above, a possible solution could be to seal the piece with Future or similar 😉
14 July 2022, 11:22
Cuajete
Thanks, Moreno. That solution had not occurred to me. I hope it works over time 👍

Dear all, many thanks for all the many likes! In summer time I do more outside activities, su I'm still a sloooow builder 🙂

In any case, today I checked the connector rodes, they seems ok in my kit and so I shuold be able to properly add the floats 🙂
