Roughly what it will look like when finished.

Rudder controls. Will have to scratch build something.
![Album image #3 Album image #3](/albums/img/1/8/4/1226184-36583-70-720.jpg)
Cockpit thus far. Rudder control, fire extinguisher, and pilot’s seat still to be installed. Possibly also a dog on the rear seats.
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/1/8/5/1226185-36583-25-720.jpg)
Another view. Behind the rear seats I’ll put a life jacket, emergency kit, 2 boat bumpers, and an anchor with rope.

Approximate dimensions for the paddle on the float.
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/1/8/3/1226183-36583-64-720.jpg)
The paddle so far. It will actually be an aluminum shaft with black plastic blade and grip, hence the different blade shape.
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/1/8/9/1226189-36583-24-720.jpg)
Inspiration for the boat bumpers.
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/1/9/1/1226191-36583-57-720.jpg)
Inspiration for the anchor.
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/1/8/2/1226182-36583-69-720.jpg)
Scratch-built anchor. Still waiting for the chain, then will add rope.

I’ve read that the regular Cessna 172 kits requires a lot of nose weight or else they will be tail sitters. Not taking any chances. 🙂
![Album image #11 Album image #11](/albums/img/1/9/3/1226193-36583-85-720.jpg)
Inspiration for the life jacket.
![Album image #12 Album image #12](/albums/img/1/9/7/1226197-36583-23-720.jpg)
Two attempts - one from plasticard, the other from several layers of masking tape (which is impossible to cut!)
![Album image #13 Album image #13](/albums/img/1/9/5/1226195-36583-41-720.jpg)
Plasticard life jacket with a layer of masking tape for texture. Looks better than the all-masking tape attempt. Maybe I'll put that one under the rear seat.

Somebody please explain to me why the floor and side panels are 3 different colors even though I used the exact same bottle of paint.

Cockpit details (excluding pilot): anchor with rope and chain, life preserver, emergency kit, 2 boat bumpers, fire extinguisher, cord for headphones, dog, and paddle (for one float). All scratch-built except for the dog and fire extinguisher.
![Album image #17 Album image #17](/albums/img/1/5/3/1234153-36583-35-720.jpg)
Fire extinguisher installed. Squeezing the rudder control in there will be interesting….
![Album image #18 Album image #18](/albums/img/0/7/5/1306075-36583-18-720.jpg)
Cockpit is finally starting to come together!
![Album image #19 Album image #19](/albums/img/0/7/6/1306076-36583-38-720.jpg)
Close up view of the back.
![Album image #20 Album image #20](/albums/img/0/7/1/1306071-36583-14-720.jpg)
Cockpit with back wall in place. Had to cut the boat bumper so the fuselage would close properly.

This pilot figure (from the Hasegawa MH-6 kit) was a poor choice - a lot of surgery was required (including shortening his legs and the seat supports) and he still barely fits. Making the connecting bar for his headset was also a nightmare. At least the black wash gives the seatbacks better definition.

![Album image #23 Album image #23](/albums/img/0/7/0/1306070-36583-69-720.jpg)
Another close up on the emergency gear.

Had some super glue issues when gluing the dog in position, so now it looks like his front legs are in a pool of drool that dripped onto the floor.

Thanks Spanjaard. Aside from the paddle, we'll see how many are actually visible once I'm finished. 🙂
